[00:00:01] We're all living in a World Gone Geek. It's time to geek card or go home. The podcast is real. Here's your host, Grounded Geek. Hey everybody, welcome to World Gone Geek. The podcast is real.

[00:00:20] I am Jeff also known as Grounded Geek and we are so glad you're here because we are back. It has been a little while with me as always. My good friends, Alia aka Alia aka Alia and Utah aka Koo-Yuta. Hey, here is it. What? You're... Just in time.

[00:00:48] It is 2024 and we are back. Utah literally back from the future of the past where were you just now? I don't remember. Another great visual gag for our podcast this year. Hey, if you are listening on the podcast, we thank you so much.

[00:01:10] We are going to try to keep more audio-friendly gags for you guys than video. But as always, we are also dropping this on YouTube at the same time. So if you're watching us on YouTube, we appreciate you as well.

[00:01:22] Thanks for coming to the show. It's been a while guys. I feel like I haven't seen you guys in forever. We've had a few meetings here and there online but not like this. Not doing the show. The show has been on hiatus for a little over a year.

[00:01:36] I haven't been that long. It has because our last show was actually right before I got laid off from my job. I had a wonderful great job and they laid off a thousand people. And I was number 998. I don't know which one of those.

[00:01:57] And it was unemployed for almost six months before I finally got re-employed, which is very grateful. And we were going to be back at work again. But it was just stuff was happening. I wasn't into it. We were, I was busy trying to find a job.

[00:02:14] You guys had some family things going on. We were all getting bombarded from every direction with things. And so we took some time off and we are back. So I am grateful to see you guys. Thank you guys for being here with me in our inaugural fifth season.

[00:02:31] Our fourth season was cut short. But this is officially our fifth season episode one. Thank you for being here. Thank you folks who listened to before and for those of you who are just joining us for the first time. We're grateful for your here.

[00:02:45] We hope you'll keep coming back. What do we do here? It's hard to say. We keep coming back. It's hard to say. We talk about a little bit of everything. We are a pop culture friendly podcast. We celebrate the many diverse passions and fandoms that are out there.

[00:03:04] We do not like to gatekeep. We want to celebrate the things that people are passionate about. So if you're a star trek fan and you're a star worse fan, you're embraced very much so by Utah and I because we love both of those things. Yes.

[00:03:18] But there's no star fans. There's no reason to fight in this world gun gate. We can certainly debate the merits of this or that in certain episodes and things like that.

[00:03:28] And we may not always agree, but the whole point is that we both that we love things passionately in certain fandoms very much. And whatever they are, we love to talk about that here. And so tonight we're going to be talking some nostalgic fandoms.

[00:03:43] We're going to go literally back in time as Utah kind of hinted at it with his sort of amazing production there. His entrance and his a tiger.

[00:03:55] And he may come in out again as a hot guest listener, you're just going to say he's wearing a life jacket and we'll explain it. More of my life for server. Yeah. Life for server. And I'm collecting money for the Coast Guard youth.

[00:04:07] But but Ali is also wearing a hint as to what we're going to talk about as well in her hat. Biche has the words great Scott right on it. So that's a hint as one of the things we're going to talk about tonight.

[00:04:18] We're also going to we just celebrated fourth of July. And it's day to America if you're not in America. You missed out on a great day because there was a hot dog eating contest that took place and fireworks. A lot of scared dogs in America.

[00:04:37] Yes, we can and and some some did drone shows I saw some cool video of that amazing you know what doing drone shows instead of fireworks now. I think that's cool. I like that. I like that.

[00:04:50] It's kind of neat. Yeah, I mean, I still like a good fireworks show from time to time but the drone stuff has been really fascinating and and and really creative. So yeah, but that's fourth of July.

[00:05:01] We're going to talk a little bit about the hot dog eating contest. That's going to be a lot of fun. And then I had a wonderful opportunity to get involved in kind of a bucket list activity last month.

[00:05:11] I'm going to share a little bit about that and how it's continuing this month with an event coming up this Saturday. And I have an interview with a couple of people that we're going to play. Are you in the Superman movie?

[00:05:22] You, I wish. I did. I did sign up for the late auditions they had for the Fourth of July. They needed new people. Yeah, they're doing a lot of. I went. I did throw in for that did not did not make it.

[00:05:34] Of course, even if I had, I would have told you that I was in in the Genesis. Oh, that's right. I'm sorry. There's a Superman movie. Genesis just filming here and and please lend there is no confirmation. No, no, no. That's the direction.

[00:05:48] That is related to a certain DC property. No, no, no, no, no. And the right way or may not do a few names is what's the director's name? Games, John something like the director. Yeah, but anyway, I do know someone who who was chosen.

[00:06:02] He's actually got to be a featured extra from what I understand and I am trying to get out. So I don't know if he's allowed to say anything until after what I don't know what the sign or what their part.

[00:06:13] But if I can get him on the show to talk about their experience of being on set, we will do so. So I'm working on that. We can do the whole thing. Exactly. And the voice change. Yeah, voice the change.

[00:06:25] Well, I know we can we can show him. I just don't think he can talk about it. Oh, you can talk about the project or even admit that he was in in Superman until Superman Reveals that it actually is Superman. It's although everyone knows it's it's probably Superman.

[00:06:42] Yeah, right. I feel like it's been all over social media, but you know hey, kind of hard to hide once Once the costume's on, right? I mean, yeah. And I will say so I work downtown. I knew job.

[00:06:56] I literally work around the corner from where they're shooting and I got a chance to go down and see some stuff which was kind of cool. I've got some pictures we've been posting those on the World Gungeek Instagram. So be sure to follow us there, check that out.

[00:07:09] Unfortunately, no sightings of the actors. Those have been scooped by some other people, but I did see some fun things like metropolis, police cars and metropolis bus bus. Bus, the empty. Yeah.

[00:07:21] First things like that is then interesting that the city in this movie called Genesis that has nothing to do with a certain DC property also set in a city name metropolis. No, no, no, it's not much well, it's not the trouble. It's not what trapless is Metro Polis.

[00:07:39] Oh, maybe I'm mispronouncing. Totally different. Anyway, first stuff going on in Cleveland. Amazing stuff. Very excited about all the things going on in Cleveland. But right now we are going to take a moment to talk about one of the really exciting things

[00:07:56] that's going on in Cleveland right now. Cleveland is home to one of the best theater districts was voted that in the country second second largest. The theater district and as one of the favorites for people who come through in Broadway and in the shows,

[00:08:11] the stuff they love coming through Cleveland is such a great theater and experience here. Playhouse Square was chosen to be the launching point for the Broadway tour of back to the future. The musical. Yeah, let's go. Hence you toss life preserver. You've seen the movie.

[00:08:32] You'll get that reference. But thankfully, we all three got a chance to see this not together all three of them. No, every separate separate separate experiences got to see this. I first have to ask. Alia. Had you seen the film before?

[00:08:51] Is that sometimes you haven't and I'm just I'm not asking no judge. It's an honest question is not a sincere question. There's a lot of it. It's very easy for someone to easily judge. You haven't seen back to the future.

[00:09:04] For me, that just means oh my gosh, this is great because you're finally going to get to see you know what I'm saying? Like we should be excited. Someone else is about to share on our fandom. This is the difference on World of Ganges.

[00:09:17] I'm just making that clear. So did you see it? The movie. The movie. Yeah. I have three of them. I have actually seen all three of them. You've seen all three. I have, but that's because my dad is like a huge. Oh, I like to caveat.

[00:09:37] I've seen all three, but that's because. Yeah, it is and you know, I said that, you know, there's certain films that was very, like just just just okay. Yeah, not just okay. All right. That's what you're about to say something bad about it. Oh, no, no, no.

[00:09:55] I think that's a great film. It's very iconic. I just, there was like. I guess in the musical, when I talk about that yet, but in the musical, I just, it was good. It was a good refresher.

[00:10:09] I should have watched the film before I went kind of, you know, if you're, like, watch all the Harry Potter before new Harry Potter film comes out. Yeah. But yeah. So I have, I have seen it and. Awesome. And what did you think of the musical?

[00:10:31] I loved it. You love the so much you bought a hat. Yeah, I did. And I went, so I actually took my youngest sister. It was kind of like a, you know, sister date. And the, we both really enjoyed ourselves. We had great seats.

[00:10:50] Shout out to my job or, you know, getting in the, they were right there in the orchestra center. So we was able to hear all of the things. But I will say that the effects and the set design was absolutely phenomenal. Yes, the acting was great.

[00:11:12] But I feel like we kind of expect the acting to be great sometimes. Maybe not in the respect. But the set design and the effects don't always get the props that they deserve. So I really had to give it to them this time. Agreed.

[00:11:26] I did, I thought the same Utah you literally just saw it tonight. Like your, I was just, yeah, Yeah, we zoomed into the screen. It was literally coming right from the theater. And I was just, I was just there. Thank goodness.

[00:11:40] Thank goodness my friend Mike and his delorean at the show. And I could just go, And get right here in time. Yeah, what thoughts like seriously your fresh fresh thought. So I thoroughly enjoyed it. Absolutely enjoyed it. It's one of the most impressive. Technically.

[00:12:00] One of the most impressive shows I've seen, the technical aspects of it between the projections and the sound effects and the lighting effects. And that freaking car holy. Or with mainly tomolis. The cars, the star of the show man.

[00:12:16] You know, I understand that we've had like the flying carpet and the ladden and the car in Chiti Tudy Bang Bang. But this delorean man just blows them all out of the water.

[00:12:24] What that what they made that car or what that car can do for the show was fan, dang, tastic. Yeah. I loved it. I will say that for some, for anyone who is not familiar with the movies, or maybe not as a huge fan of the films,

[00:12:42] this musical may not be as entertaining. It's a decent show by itself, but it's definitely amplified. Your enjoyment is definitely amplified if your fan of the movies or you enjoy the movies.

[00:12:57] You know, it's almost to me like one of the best fan service sort of shows you could possibly do. Like top tier quality acting. The music was okay. You know, other than the songs from the movie, maybe one or two other songs in the middle of the show.

[00:13:19] Most of the songs are just kind of, I would consider typical kind of Broadway fair that, honestly, I've forgotten a lot of it already, but I enjoyed it while I was there. And I have to say that the cast, the National Tourcast,

[00:13:36] they were so perfect for the roles. George McFly, what's with the merch, why not? He was spot on a hundred percent perfect George McFly. From the moment he laughs for the first time. I was like, that is George McFly. He had it down perfectly. I mean,

[00:13:58] that was like, was that crispy and glover? No. No, but it was so spot on. And Biff was great too. I thought he was excellent. I loved Goldie. I mean, well, I mean, Goldie was just, yeah. But yes, that's where I want to, I don't lean it around,

[00:14:16] but that's where I want to come in because I loved it too. I thought it was fantastic. This is one of the few shows where I went in completely blind. I mean, I already knew the plot. I've seen the movie. I've seen the movie. Well, right.

[00:14:28] They don't, they don't hue far from the problem. No, they changed a few things that needed to be changed for the purposes. That made sense for staging. Yeah, exactly. But now, from the, you mentioned the music, for me, obviously I was expecting the power of love.

[00:14:42] I was expecting, you know, Jackie can tell me that kind of stuff. That kind of stuff. Good. But I had no idea what any other songs were going to be. So all of that was a surprise to me.

[00:14:53] And I just want to say that the guy who plays Goldie Wilson, like stole the show. Incredible. I mean, he's not on stage enough to steal the show, but when he is, but when he is, when he is, he steals the show.

[00:15:07] Not a start somewhere is the literal one of my favorites. Literally the definition of a show stopper. What a great number. What a great song. Everyone's involved. It was so fun. I was just like grinning that whole time. And so every time Goldie Wilson got to do stuff.

[00:15:28] And he plays other roles. He plays, does he play Marvin Berry too? Marvin Berry. Yeah. Which he played, which he was hilarious as Marvin Berry. I started to say he played the mayor, but that's all, that was Goldie Wilson becomes a little bit more. That's a good idea.

[00:15:41] Bear. Yeah. That's a good idea. That's a good idea. I thought he was great. And he was just had an amazing voice. And that number was just like, I want to, it just got me so pumped up. Like I have it in my playlist now.

[00:15:55] I listen to my car and get it such a pot. I mean the whole show is really positive. But that number was so super positive. Yeah. A lot of the songs were a lot of fun. Like you said, typical kind of Broadway fair.

[00:16:09] But this overall, yeah, it's just a great fun show. Right. And the thing that's great is, it's great. You missed it. I feel sorry see if you can find a time traveling to the Lorient to go back and see it. It's still showing in New York.

[00:16:26] I believe it's got a home in Chicago as well. Oh, does it? I know it's, I mean, it started in the West End in London. And I think it's still there. It's still on Broadway. And then this national tour. I don't know. I think it was in Chicago.

[00:16:41] I'd have to look it up. But anyway, but it is touring. So if it's out there near you somewhere, and you are on the fence and you like back to the future at all, please know that it is not. It is not trying to replace your beloved original.

[00:16:55] It is 100% and homage to all the things that you love about that movie. And you know, it's not like, well, that's not Michael J. Fox. Oh, that's not. Oh, no, no, no, yeah, don't go. Not my, not brown. It's you know, okay. You're right. It is at them.

[00:17:13] This is this. They're not trying to be right. And it's a very, very good, very fun tribute. You should go check it out. Yeah, I also was there. There's a scene. You know, I can't think of the song that they sang, but it's whenever they're like running

[00:17:27] around in the school and the kids are like on top of the lockers. Yeah, that was good one too. It was so funny because there's like the one guy that's like, like trying to peek around and kind of figure out where he's at.

[00:17:38] And he's just standing up there on the locker. There's the choreography, the stunt work and the sets. They had so many moving flats going around and this that, you know, I do not use it in the gym and the projection, the, you know, the backlight projection forever.

[00:17:54] I mean, it was just so well done and so choreographed. I mean, there were things that mixed live action with a moving set with a projection that they did flawlessly, at least for today show. I heard that they're there having some technical difficulties, but for something as complex,

[00:18:13] technically complex as a show. And this is the first, this is the beginning of their tour. You can understand that you might see a blue screen of death here and there or the car might get that happening.

[00:18:24] Yeah, yeah, there was one, there was one show last week in Cleveland where Act, I think act two, no, no, no, the show was delayed for a good half hour because of technical difficulties and the speculation was that they couldn't get the car to work.

[00:18:44] And so they were trying to figure out how to get the car to work. And I think there's another time where some people pushing it around this day, right? They're all wearing black hoods and stuff like even things around. That's too funny.

[00:18:59] But I think there's another time where they actually had to stop in the middle of a number and they just kind of, so I mean, it's a technically complex show. Sure, sure. And that's awkward when live.

[00:19:13] And so my son, my youngest Jacob has never been to a Broadway show. It's really into that kind of stuff, but loves back to the future. And so he decided to go, this is his first live Broadway thing and he's very uncomfortable at live things

[00:19:26] because he worries about that. He has second-hand embarrassment, if you will, when things go wrong, even if he has nothing to do with it. And it just bothers him like he doesn't even like to watch it on TV. It's just a thing.

[00:19:39] And so I'm glad you said those things happened at different shows. Different shows. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was like, I don't think anything like that happened at ours. However, there was someone somewhere in the audience who's phone alarm kept going with the little wind times, like,

[00:19:59] I'm glad I wasn't that, and it was during certain parts where there was a little bit of background sci-fi music like that whole Rrrr, you know. And I'm like, maybe it's part of it.

[00:20:14] And then later it's happening at other parts, and I'm like, that's not part of it. And then it just kept getting, and you could see the red coats, you know, the volunteers like, a wanderer, you know, trying to figure it out.

[00:20:24] I'm going to find out how does it go on that long? It literally went on for like, whole, whole sex maybe 10 minutes at least. And we were like, what is happening? So that was strange and then I'm coming to find out, you know, I'm telling the hand

[00:20:38] who was also there in my old, old, his daughter. She's like, I didn't hear it. She can be like, we're both looking at each other like, what is that? How could you, how could it, it has to be in someone's pocket?

[00:20:49] That's gonna be someone's not wanting to be seen, to turn it off. But how could you let it go that long without doing something like, excuse yourself to go to the bathroom?

[00:20:59] Like whatever you just have to take the wrap, just get out and wait to take care of it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was great. I think during mine, someone's phone rang. That was like, you know, it was one of those like real loud.

[00:21:14] It was two, and you know, but they like hurried up like, oh, yeah. This was this, this, that going. And it's almost like the person almost like envisioned the person who it was, go look at it around like, who's the usual?

[00:21:28] What the, what the, what the, what the, what are we going on? You're just a fool. There's just a phone alarm. But yeah, I have no idea what was going on. But anyway, I would say.

[00:21:37] Turn off your phones in a, in a, in a musical or in a live production, it's, it's distracting to the, the actors imagine, especially in the middle of a tent scene or whatever. And these, they're working themselves into a furvert of be like this part and entertain.

[00:21:54] And, and, and they're trying to be that character and your phone goes off and they lose their train of thought you could be the reason. Turn them off. I mean, they say it at the very beginning of every show.

[00:22:04] It's, yeah, I mean, it, it's not like the same person on the lake. It's not a new thing. It's not a new thing, you know, anyways, the worst thing, the worst thing in my show today was people tapping on the shoulder going,

[00:22:19] any variation of nice life for server or I like to vest. Yeah. That's awesome. And that wasn't the only one. So that was good. Other people were wearing the life preserve other people were wearing life preserves.

[00:22:32] And if I think the merch to get me one so, so I saw somebody wearing one that was like super, like super, like super, like not puffy and it had the back to the future logo on the back.

[00:22:42] So they must have been selling them at the merch booth. They were, they were selling them a very tempted to get one but it was expensive. Like Barry. Yeah. This was, I could guarantee you this was cheaper. Yeah. And I did.

[00:22:56] And I didn't know that these vests actually are actually pretty warm. So I'm actually going to use it this winter. Hi. Yeah. The hoodie was expensive and the hat was also exhaustive expensive.

[00:23:09] But my sister never went to a Broadway play before or just like a musical in general. And she absolutely loves musicals. So I was like, oh, you look a bit good times. Good times.

[00:23:21] But I will say my favorite part is when the car comes out at the end. Yeah. Yes. They said in one of my good friends, she's a coworker for one of my friends. She went and saw it in New York. Oh wow. Yeah.

[00:23:38] So it's different in New York, right? Mm. Yeah. So it actually like turns. Yeah. And they've heard that I've heard that in New York and in London it actually goes out above the audience. And then turns and goes upside down. Mm-hmm.

[00:23:53] And then turns around and goes back to, and then goes back. Whoa. So I can, I mean, you can understand why they wouldn't be able to get that for a tour. Yeah. That's something they'd have to build permanently into. Right.

[00:24:05] That that that that takes a bit more length of its run. Correct. So that just means I'm going to have to try and get the Broadway to see it. Yeah. You should. Road trip. A word, word, word, Gungi, Road trip. Come on. WG, GRT.

[00:24:22] So back to the future of the musical. Definitely go see it. It's very, very sad. I don't think about it. I was trying to think of something the now though. I'm going to be like, like, road trip.

[00:24:33] You know, like, those road trip, USA or like, you know, no size of things. I was trying to think of something clever but then I just look silly. So in the style jitter time, speaking of the style jitter times it was just a fourth of July.

[00:24:51] We did just celebrate that. Did you guys do anything fun for fourth of July? Okay. So that's not one thing that happened. And I rained. Didn't it? We went and saw a movie. You did. We didn't saw inside out too. Okay. So we did.

[00:25:08] And Jacob, they went to see that. Yeah, I saw it. What did you think you taught? What did I think? Yeah. First off, I'm still salty about being bonk but that's really not. Okay. No spoiler. I don't know anything about thing bonk enough. Okay.

[00:25:23] So with that, yeah, well, I'm so salty about being bonk and it is is faith from the first movie. Anyways, beyond that. I enjoyed it. I feel like for myself. Like for the first one, the first one I was very emotionally involved throughout the movie.

[00:25:41] And this one, I wasn't as emotionally involved throughout the movie. But the ending was still very, very touching. Okay. And so good movie for me, the first one was more emotionally powerful. But it was inside out too is a very good addition to the inside out franchise.

[00:26:05] If there's going to be another one. But now it was really well done. They did a great job of kind of describing and showing what like a tween kind of goes through. And I thought that was very clever. Some of the stuff they did was very clever.

[00:26:19] So highly recommend two sums up. Man, my adult self was like, but in that theater boo-hoo and. I didn't cry until near the end. Yeah, that I don't know what it was. We'll just throw out.

[00:26:36] I think the film, it was very much tugging on the heartstrings because I think. Because you were seeing, you felt seeing. I mean, the main character is an adolescent girl and we did not experience being adolescent girls. This is true. But you did. We've been feeling experienced.

[00:26:57] Like do you think that maybe that's true? Is that what it? How is it? Yeah, I mean, I feel like that could definitely be a fact of a large factor. But I also think that it just touches on.

[00:27:09] The importance of again without any spoilers, but I do think that it. Even the first one, I think that they both do a phenomenal job of touching on the importance of emotions and valuing all the emotions, not just one over the other.

[00:27:26] And also, but to that same point of valuing them, not completely relying on them because sometimes our emotions can be a lie. Right. It's good to have them, but don't let them control you. Yeah. We don't let one particular one overwhelm anything else.

[00:27:49] You got to be kind of well balanced and get all the voices in there. So to speak. Yeah. But to know it was really good. We enjoyed it. You know, it was me, Karen Tico and Tyson. We all agreed it was a really good movie. Yeah. Awesome.

[00:28:06] I probably won't until it comes on Disney. That's the first one, but not enough that I wanted to see. No, no, no negative. Just, just, yeah, oh wait, that's not correct me. Some movies, some movies are just that way for some people. I don't know until understand.

[00:28:22] I will say I was surprised what other previews in front of inside out too was Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice. Yes. And we'll have an episode. We're going to talk about some of them upcoming movies because I cannot wait to see that.

[00:28:36] I, that that trail everything I've seen about Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has been fantastic. I just surprised how just surprised that they had that as a trailer in front of a G movie, you know? I just don't understand like how people aren't afraid of that movie.

[00:28:55] Have you seen the first one? Yeah. Yeah. Did we have my cockroaches? Wasn't their cockroaches in that movie or am I thinking of a different one? I don't think it was very campy the what the scares in that movie.

[00:29:12] So I don't know if you might be thinking of something else. I think there is a cockroach in it, but it's not he doesn't know. I don't think I don't think he uses it like. Okay, there's two different things that I'm thinking of.

[00:29:22] I thought it was a fly. There was a fly and he pulls it down into the grave with them. We don't see what he does to it. That's right. That's right. It wasn't a cockroach. No, no, it was a fly. I'm pretty sure it was a fly.

[00:29:33] You're right. There's a fly that landed on the little model cemetery. Yeah, there's like certain things that are like like the fly. The fly reminds me of a scary movie where the fly lands on the person's eyeball. It just sits there. Yeah.

[00:29:49] And now like that's all I can think about the cockroach for something. I thought that it was in this movie. But it also reminds me of the mummy when all the cockroaches like. Oh yeah, yeah. The Beatles came flood the scare. There's no scare of the people.

[00:30:02] There's no scare of the Beatles. Yeah, those are different than cockroaches. How dare you? That's right. They are creepy crawlers and it comes out of that man's face. Yeah. What is this? Simple to do. The mummy is like, it was a scary Beatles thank you very much.

[00:30:19] Speaking of this, the South, the North, the July events, besides just going to see inside out there was a hot dog eating contest. It's been going on since the early 70s. You know, this contest is old as you and me. That's frightening. Oh yeah.

[00:30:37] They think was in about 1972 they at the beginning of the show. They didn't know for sure. Naked in hot dog eating content. Well, as far as like when it became started becoming an official thing. The original location of Nathan's hot dogs on Coney Island. Yeah.

[00:30:54] And it was usually in conjunction with independent stay. It's officially an independent stay thing. But they used to enjoy used to have them on Memorial Day and Labor Day and stuff like They'd have other contest. But remember July, it's just strictly fourth of July now.

[00:31:08] As far as I know, yeah that's the official Nathan's hot dog. And there's a guy named Joey Chestnut who has been the champion for years. Yes. It's his real name. And his arch nemesis, if you will, Kobe Ashi, the from Japan.

[00:31:30] He, you know, is also a great competitive eater. Didn't know that was a sport. It is. It's not even on the Ocho. It's major league eating. That is a real thing. And I guess. Major league eating.

[00:31:47] I feel like I need me to go experience one of these in real life. Right? Well, also. Yeah. The thing is, if you were going to it this year to see the great Joey Chestnut compete You would have championed compete.

[00:32:02] You would be greatly disappointed because he was banned from the hot dog eating contest this year. Why? And because of a sponsorship, right? He had a great. A must-in agreement or sign an agreement for vegan hot dogs. Yeah. And possible possible possible burger and possible hot dogs. Yeah.

[00:32:23] Where he is promoting these vegan hot dogs. And he wanted Nathan's to do vegan to do his, you know, team up with them. And Nathan's is like, hello, we have a vegan hot dog. That is a competitor. Hekno were not doing that. Rightly so. That's the thing.

[00:32:43] I mean, that's the only thing that was ever going to work out. But I guess Nathan's didn't want him as a spokesman for theirs. So he went, it took his talents to my hands. He took his talent. He took his talent.

[00:32:57] I don't know where where impossible is based. But you get the idea. Yeah. But he is now officially sponsored by this impossible hot dog. And therefore wasn't there this year. And I mean, he is eating upwards of, I think, his record was 76 one year that was in 2021.

[00:33:19] And he has six hot dogs in 10 minutes in 10 minutes. Yeah, with buns and all. It's nuts. Kind of amazed crazy. His last just time there was last year, 2023. He did it 62 hot dogs in 10 minutes. What? And the guy who competed this year did 58 in 10 minutes.

[00:33:42] So he would not have beaten Joey Chess who was not a beating. From last year, if Joey had put up similar numbers. But he fluctuates throughout the years. Doesn't always, I think he gauges it based on how well the other guys are doing to. Sure.

[00:33:54] You don't want to push yourself. It's just like a marathon. You know, you, you're not a sprint. No. You know, the only thing that you need is for your marathon. My entire life. Let me just say, but I mean, you know,

[00:34:07] it doesn't matter by how many hot dogs you beat the other guys. You just exactly. One more than the other guys. There's Aliah, however there is there is a women's champ as well. Mickey Sudo has been the champ for the last three years.

[00:34:20] I think she won a game this year. She did 51 in 10 minutes. So she was only seven. Oh, the man he was. Yeah, she's really close to you know, why? Which makes me wonder why that's even a gender event.

[00:34:32] If that's the case because it seems like that there isn't a, you know, any kind of a, I just thought, you can eat hot dogs. Let them eat hot dogs. Right. Yeah. What if anything that you guys could eat like that? Like I can eat some hot dogs.

[00:34:48] Let me tell you. But the thing is I'm doing keto right now and I can't have the bun. And that's part of it. I feel like a good problem. But I eat that with. I don't know. No, I don't think I can lose any of that from where.

[00:35:00] Like, I know chicken nuggets. The Tyson's the Tyson's frozen dinosaur chicken nuggets. Yeah, I eat a lot of hot dogs when when when there are hot dogs available. I'm like, I'll have to and then if there are more left,

[00:35:13] I'll have more and I'll keep I'll eat a lot of hot dogs. I don't know if you can get the eight months. Yeah, I don't think 10 minutes. It's crazy. I mean, you know what I was thinking maybe in one sitting but not in 10 minutes.

[00:35:24] I was also thinking about white castle when I was a kid. My, you know, like, a little baby hamburgers. Yeah. Those are good. You can say, 20 of them at a time.

[00:35:35] So now I'm like, just like you still live by the white castle way back when that is true. How many could you eat at a time? You know, we always mean, you know,

[00:35:44] I always went for like the six pack with an extra like two because they're so good. They're called sliders for anybody. But yeah, but those were so good. So I want to give an update though on this before we get too fired. So Joey still ate hot dogs.

[00:36:05] He still did it like he was at an event. Well, he was out. He went to an event. It was for this. It was not like he just showed up at event. Made all our stuff down and it.

[00:36:19] He was at or bliss army base in El Paso, Texas. So he was there for fort to like something else doing event. Right. And he took on four army soldiers in a contest to see who could eat the most hot dogs in five minutes.

[00:36:37] All right, five minutes so that the contest was like this. If the group of four soldiers ate more hot dogs than Joey, then he would lose. But if Joey or the four soldiers combined in five minutes, then he would win. Those four, four versus one. Exactly.

[00:36:57] So kind of an interesting twist. That's a nice twist. Trying to get some attention, you know, to wait from Nathan's which again. Because a little where they impossible hot dogs. I don't know that's a good that is a great question. Yes.

[00:37:10] I feel like I feel like I don't feel like they would try to have to be wouldn't it? But don't you want to know what the results were? Yes, I think Joey Chesapeake will be the four army guys by 10 hot dogs. Okay. The score go ahead.

[00:37:23] Your prediction, Elia. I think that the army men beat them by beat him by three hot dogs. No, no, I think they can name that hot dog in the right. So I catch a mustard. The score was 57 to 49. Oh, I was close. And the soldiers ate the 49. Chestnut.

[00:37:49] I was so close. In four soldiers, they basically only ate a little. A little over 29. Yeah. Whatever a piece to get there. And he ate 57 in five minutes. So that's, that's rewine about that. So 57 and five. And the winner of this year's Nathan's was 55 and 10. No, yeah.

[00:38:15] The winner of this year's 58. In 10 minutes. 58 in 10. Joey, Joey. Yeah. Yeah. Eight. What I say, 59. Sorry, I like Joey. Joey, Joey, and five minutes. So he ate almost as he would have just to dwarf this guy if he had done it.

[00:38:37] So, but I know that if he had had 10 minutes, he would stretch that 59. Oh, he would have seen what a pace themselves told us. Yes. He would have passed it. So we don't know exactly what would happen. But it seems that Joey would have been on top again.

[00:38:50] There is further interesting twists in the story. Joey and his arts and emphasis, Kobyashi, which he'd be amazing off against each other in September. But what are the lives on Netflix? Oh, I thought there was something live. No. So 18. 18. Time hot dog eating champion. Joey Chestnut.

[00:39:17] 16 time hot dog champion. Joey Chestnut. That's a sentence that I just said. That's a thing that exists. And six time hot dog eating champion to Karoko Riyashi will Will come into him. And Chestnut versus Kobyashi unfinished beef with, that's what it's called with all beef hot dogs.

[00:39:40] So won't be impossible hot dogs. It's all beef. And that means that's what he ate then too. So apparently this isn't even being sponsored by impossible. So I don't know how he managed to pull this off.

[00:39:49] But you know, Mike Tyson was supposed to face off against Jake Paul. Is that an happening? Jake Paul. Yeah. No, that's not happening because Tyson got sick and he wasn't able to train it may happen sometime in the future. I wanted to happen. I won't. But now. Now.

[00:40:10] Joey Chestnut and Kobyashi. Yeah. Forget the Tyson Paul. This is it. Yeah, this is the one. I'm interested. I'm ready to go. I'm going to like we didn't do it. I had dog eating contest just to see what we could do. See what's dog. It's a dog.

[00:40:26] I can't. Okay. We'll give you the. We'll give you an event. So then let's not do that. Let's not do buns. Let's just do hot dogs. Let's just do hot dogs. I just do it. I would do it. I would do it. Oh, very.

[00:40:38] How about let's have a Vienna sausage eating contents. Now they're like the taste that I was ever. They have a you know you're right. I'd rather have a hot dog. Nope. Yeah. The hot. Who knows who's the marketing people that came up with unfinished beef. Yeah, certainly.

[00:40:50] That's iconic. That's really good. Yeah. So here's the question. If 16 time champion and six time champion go up against each other in a winner takes all. I mean does this mean like whoever wins this is kind of the. The winner, the throne, the world's greatest.

[00:41:09] These the goat is he the winner goat. You can. Okay. See the goat weiner. I mean that's what I want to know right is you the greatest of all time weiner. Yeah, the weiner of all time. The world. We'll find out September second. Next slide check it out.

[00:41:26] We will we will have coverage right here on the show. You. I want to show in September. We will definitely. We talk about that in September. So make sure. I'm speaking of competitions. This is my segue. I'm going to be a little bit more.

[00:41:44] Another type of competition that people are passionate about and love and our big fans of is wrestling. And I am one of those. I was a wrestling fan as a kid for quite a bit. A little bit as an adult. Yeah.

[00:41:56] So it's sort of becoming a bit of a wrestling fan again as I've had a chance to we interviewed the show Robby star. Yes. Yes. A wrestler for some local. Wrestling regional professional wrestling groups here in Ohio.

[00:42:12] He's probably got a chance to go see him and he's a super guy. Finally got to the chance to go see him and his tag team partner, no shame, Jimmy Shane. Compete in OCW Ohio Championship Wrestling's Big Bang. This was several months ago.

[00:42:28] Finally got to go see them. It was a great match day one. It was a lot of fun. It was so much fun just being in that crowd live seeing this fun. Entertainment happening and these guys going out at the ring. Great times. No shame, Jimmy Shane.

[00:42:44] Totally betrayed. Right. And of that match. So the match was over. They had won retained their tag team championships and Jimmy Shane betrayed him and beat him down. And I had no idea what was going on with shocked. I'll shock. No shame. Yeah. No shame. No shame. Absolutely.

[00:43:05] It's not a sad end. Yeah. Like most of the audience that night, shocked and confused. So I've been kind of following what's been going on with OCW ever since and had the wonderful bucket list pleasure to be guest ring announcer to their event fatal attraction back in June

[00:43:22] and loved it. Had a great time. My first time ever doing ring announcing. It was a great crowd. Was there? That it's in great matches. A lot of cool stuff happened. Some surprises happened in the ring. I didn't expect we're happening. It was great.

[00:43:33] I didn't get body slammed. So I escaped unscathed. That was also great. I was hoping it would happen to me. I could get out the ring before any of those chairs started flying. I managed to do that. So it was great.

[00:43:44] But it was just a really fun time. If you guys haven't been to an OCW match there, they're here locally. They're not very expensive. The great family fun come out and check it out. It's good time. However, there's another event coming up this Saturday, July 13th in

[00:44:02] Magador at the Magador. The best of all. OCW summer fest will happen. A to 8 p.m. At the Magador festival. So there's lots of rides and food and all that cool festival stuff that you love to do.

[00:44:16] And then the entertainment that even in the nursery will be OCW wrestling, a royal battle battle, a battle royal will be taking place, which is very exciting. And guests who will be guest announcer again. Me. That's right. I am the guest ring announcer again.

[00:44:36] Very excited to do this. I'm filling in for a day of a great ring announcer. But he is not going to be able to be there. He wasn't able to be there and June, not going to be able to be there for July.

[00:44:46] So I am honored to be able to do it again. So I am inviting everyone to come out and check this out. It's going to be a lot of fun. And in prep for that. I actually had a chance to sit down with no shame Jimmy Shane.

[00:44:59] And the show will. And the show will be there. And the show will be there separately. Separately they could not get them in the same room because Still probably a lot of that blood between these two guys in the same. The battle traction. More shenanigans happened.

[00:45:13] Let me just say it was it was a mess. And at the end Robby star was promised by the general manager of OCW, a match against Jimmy Shane. And Robby star get the call the match. He said, you name the match. I'll book it.

[00:45:30] You're going to get it. And so he challenged Jimmy Shane to a street fight which is no no holds barred. No more nothing illegal. Yeah. And that's happening the week after. Magidor Summerfest at Palini's in Canal Fulton.

[00:45:49] I'm not the guest ring announcer for that but I'll be there because I want to see what I'm going to see how this all comes down. It's going to be amazing. But these two guys did talk about what's going on between the two of them.

[00:45:59] And we're going to watch that interview right now. All right. Well, I'm again, I'm just a grounded geek here with Jimmy. No shame. Shane. Welcome to the show, Jimmy. It's your pleasure to have me. It sure is. Let me tell you it is.

[00:46:17] I have just gotten involved with OCW. I've finally, you know, only been able to come out to a few matches but it has been electrifying so far. I'll meet a little bit about how you got into wrestling in the first place in doing this professionally. It was 2006.

[00:46:34] 15 year old Jimmy Shane when sent front row at an OCW show and watched as all the OCW stars competed at a show in the Akron area. They weren't from the Akron area at the time, but they're coming up doing a one-up show.

[00:46:50] And on that show, what is the likes of Sherman take? Big gun check cannon. TNAs at the time, the monster of Bists. Billy Gunn and Robby Star. Okay. At that show, there's a pamphlet. And in the pamphlet, bring sure.

[00:47:09] Tell me about who the wrestlers were, what they're upcoming shows were. They had an advertisement for the big guns, pro wrestling academy down at the shop and a couple. About hour and a half from my house.

[00:47:21] So, we've filled all of put on some size and then when I graduated, it's time to go down. It started training at the big guns academy to join OCW. And can you tell us a little bit about who was training there at the same time as you,

[00:47:35] could you name some of the people that you work with? So my class, none of them are currently in OCW anymore. But the other one is a former OCW Heavyweight Champion. Juiced Jennings. And then we tried out together, we came up together. We started around the same time.

[00:47:55] He had about a year ahead of me. But we both were competing for the same spots. And we eventually became a tag team. Then we eventually had our issues. And my kids last match in OCW with me being in him for those W Heavyweight Champion. And second time.

[00:48:12] Nice. Now, I tell me a little bit about why you went to that first OCW match to watch it in the first place. Have you been watching wrestling as a kid? You grew up watching who were some of your inspirations growing up?

[00:48:26] So I actually started watching wrestling late in the game. I was actually well when I started or 11 around that it was 212 and I turned 12 that year. So depending when I actually started, it was the time frame. And so that's after the boom period, that's after the attitude there.

[00:48:41] That's after wrestling. It's no longer cool anymore. But I turned it on and I was a compil. I turned it on and solved the hurricane and the superhero who was wrestling. What? This is awesome. And then a saw. Shotcogan was on that episode of SmackDown.

[00:48:59] Triple H, all these guys look wow, there's all these larger life characters. There's a literal superhero right. This is great. And so when that OSTW show was announced and it had wrestlers who I recognized like Billy Gun from

[00:49:13] very, really, I was watching TNA the time and this was there. And I was, I have to go back this out. And then it was actually the OCW stars that I saw flying around the rain, doing off the pretty shovels.

[00:49:25] This was better than sitting at home and watching. And I get to be here first place, watch independent wrestling. This close to me. This is amazing. This is what I want to do. I didn't just want to be a pro wrestler. I wanted to be an OCW.

[00:49:39] That's awesome. And so you got started. Can you tell me a little bit about your very first match? My very first, so this is actually the, Very cool circle moment of it. I went to that first show with my high school best friend. My name was Joey.

[00:49:56] He also went and trained. He went, he did a do the football track. He went during high school and started training. So my first match is in Newark, Ohio. Again, to Joey vengeance for OCW, the guy that I used to wrestle on a trampoline with growing up.

[00:50:10] And we sat in the crowd and noticed that we shone. We're going to be OCW wrestlers one day. And then February 18th, 2012, we, I had my first match against him in OCW. And what was the result? We don't need to talk about that, Jeff. All right. Paynful memories.

[00:50:32] I'm still in OCW and he's not. I'm a three time OCW champion. He's not so I think I want to be end fair enough. Fair enough. So, and you mentioned that the very first,

[00:50:45] You mentioned that some stuff has happened to maybe they've been falling out with someone that you had wrestled. I had come up with in the school. But we do know that you eventually were attacking champions with none other than Robby Stark. Tell me how that started.

[00:51:03] So that actually started day one, the very first thing when you break into wrestling, you got paid your dues, you got to do stuff, you got to be security, you got to film as cameraman, you got to set up the ring, tear down the ring,

[00:51:13] you got to do any real zest. I was the rings I'd carry on. Robby Stark was an attacking of the high-deft supernobles with pot commodity mat Mason. It typically go maniac Robby Stark, he's dad mat Mason in the back, went out on his own.

[00:51:33] He just wanted to be on his own. He saw in the young, actionable hammerman. And knew I wanted nothing more than to be by his side. I wanted to be at the top of OCW. He often made an opportunity and Robby Stark took me on.

[00:51:47] First, I was his lucky. I carried his bag. I got beat up for him. I did everything he needed me to do. Over the years, time to grasp. We had a difference. As I say the first time that Robby and I have had our problems,

[00:52:00] but it's the last time. Because after everything he's done to me, I finally see him for what he truly is. And after... After the way that OCW has fallen into shambles like it is right now, it's not the OCW I've done with...

[00:52:13] It's not the OCW that Robby Stark started in. But he's happy to be here. He's just happy to... The coast on the memories. I'm not happy to coast on memories. I'm ready to change things for the better. Interesting.

[00:52:27] And so I was there the night, I guess you made this decision. Tell me a little bit about what led up to that match. You know, you guys worked so well in the ring. I watched you guys win that match.

[00:52:38] And then after it was over during the celebration, I mean, a lot of people would say you turned on him and betrayed him. Tell me what was going through your head as you went into that match that would lead to that.

[00:52:52] So there's no Robby Stark and I were a good tag team. We were in the way we... Yeah, I've heard him do podcasts about us before years ago. Or he talks about that. We know what each other are thinking or the other one even thinks it.

[00:53:04] That's how I think we were. But that's why that's exactly the problem. I knew what Robby Stark was thinking. So that was OCW the big bang. Robby Stark started a whole new era for OCW. What was wrong with the old?

[00:53:20] Hold on to there where I was free time having a champion. Why I put the company on my back until the new heights? World of the grong when I was a Mr. OCW. Going into that show. Robby didn't have the same intention like a cell.

[00:53:31] I could see it. He was happy. He's getting older and his career. He's ready to hang it up soon, and he... he wanted to co-stunt nostalgia. Not me. I didn't care when, lose draw. I knew what I was doing after that map. I'm glad we won.

[00:53:46] I don't want to lose on anyone else's terms, but my own. And I eventually did that, didn't I? Yeah, so that was interesting. Yeah, the match that you kind of forced, this was actually not this last one, but before that where you kind of forced him

[00:54:06] into a defense of the tag team. And someone say, I guess you kind of phoned it in. You didn't even try to tag me in. He just stood there. He typically, he'll maniac, Robert Star, he had to do the whole match by himself. He couldn't make that tag.

[00:54:23] He couldn't let me come in or rock and roll like I usually do. Well, he had just finished a match where he had taken quite a beating and had won just previously. I mean, do you think it might have been more fair

[00:54:34] to let him, you know, do you guys would have that match at a later time? So two points. One, I had already wrestled two. I won my match. The second point, you actually made a little mistake right there. Robert didn't win. He lost that match.

[00:54:50] He lost two matches and one night you're right. You're right. Wow. So a lot of people, I mean, again, I had the luxury of being able to guess MC at the last event that you guys had,

[00:55:06] I'm going to do this one coming up here in July as well. And I got to say, trying to read the crowd a little bit, there seems to be some guess I would say this sentiment amongst the crowd is that you are sort of becoming

[00:55:25] a little bit of a villain. If someone would have called you that, what would you say to them? I'm sure that everyone's the villain in somewhat story, right? It's not how it all goes. Let's look at all of the Superman as the bad guy.

[00:55:39] Superman looks to let through there's the bad guy. I am here to bring those W back to the way it should be. And I'm not going to post, that was actually wrong. I'm not doing that. I am reshaping out CW who would better OCW.

[00:55:54] I knew what was good about it and I see what's bad about it now. And I'm going to mix that all up. And I'm going to reshape it the way that I think it should be. I care if the people like it, if they hate it.

[00:56:05] I'm sure you notice, I don't care management likes it or hates it. Really don't care about most of the wrestlers that they like it or hate it. Jimmy Shane is doing what he wants to do. And how are things between you and Manage Batmera?

[00:56:19] Right now, obviously there's been some scuffles involved there as well. Oh, where I've knocked out Glen Lane. I've broken into Jeremy Coddale's house, kicked him in the balls. I do what I want when I want. And there's a very good reason why they can't touch me.

[00:56:39] It's because they know that no Shane Jimmy's showing is OCW. All right, so what's the ultimate goal then, Jimmy for yourself? Is it OCW a heavyweight champion or where do you want to be?

[00:56:54] Well, as we are loading, I am currently the number one contender for the Ohio Heritage Championship at SummerCrest. And the last time I held the Ohio Heritage Championship, I held it for 1,029 days. Right, that was the right. That's the record, right? That's a record in all of OCW.

[00:57:13] No one has helped any championship that long. That's including we have people who were champions when the pandemic started. We have people who were champions when OCW went on high eighties and I still held a title longer than them.

[00:57:25] OCW took over a year off for COVID-19 and nobody even came close to them trying to rain. So maybe I'm going to do that again. Okay. I'm looking forward to that event again. I'm very, very gracious to be invited to be guest. Ring an answer for that.

[00:57:45] So I'll be right there, ring side to see that match. Good luck to you in that. But a lot of people what we're talking about now is the match after that where you're finally going to face Robbie in the ring and the street fight rules.

[00:58:03] Tell me a little bit about street fight rules. What can we expect from that match? What we could expect from that match is anything. See I've been in several street fights at OCW before. I'm undestimated in Street fights at OCW.

[00:58:18] This is my fourth street fight of 2024 and all of independent wrestling. Robbie's star is, has even had four matches this year? I don't even know. But when it comes down to it, I'm going to take Robbie's star behind Tolino Sports

[00:58:33] Paul Puppengrab and my hometown, the town that Robbie star lives it. And I'm going to beat him up. I can use chairs. I can use any weapon I want to use a lead pipe. I can slam him down on the concrete.

[00:58:51] I can take him all the way into the bar. I can have myself a shot fireball. I can go back outside. I can shove his head in the fryer of the whole game machine. I can do whatever I want. This is what Robbie's star wants.

[00:59:04] He made a big mistake. Yeah, and he did ask for the Street fight. It's a little while I already have my match at summer fest. I have a big title match to get ready for it. And he's already trying to force me to think about something else.

[00:59:18] He's trying to get in my head. He's trying to mess me up. His Robster has an issue of doing this. Do you know what happened the first time I won the OCW at JB ship? Robbie stars stabbed me in the back and deat me for it.

[00:59:34] Robbie star likes to ruin my moment as he wants to ruin my moment as he's not going to happen. Interesting. Yeah, I wasn't watching OCW back then so that's nice to me. Maybe Robbie is the stuff I didn't know about Robbie.

[00:59:55] I appreciate you educating me a little bit to know. I am going to be interviewing Robbie as well for this show. What's something you would want to tell Robbie and that I can, since I'm interviewing you first, what do you want to say to Robbie right now?

[01:00:14] You tell Robbie, did I remember made my 2018 release down me in the back for this? Have you been doing it, Shep? But you can also tell Robbie star that I remember when I defeated him at tradition.

[01:00:31] And a steel cane to watch for those W hitting big championship that I remember when Robbie star was ready to quit wrestling and I brought him. Now I'm going to ruin his co-year and he's going to be begging me, I'd hand me. All right.

[01:00:49] Well, Jimmy, I want to thank you for being on the show. It's been a pleasure hanging out with you and getting in a little bit more about you. I'm looking forward to this match coming up for the Ohio Heritage Championship.

[01:01:03] What's your, tell me a little bit about your strategy going there that before we go? Actually, I got to be honest. This is pretty exciting. I have never wrestled Wilbur Weight Lock for with Ned of Cross Pass 101. We've crossed pass and tagged team matches, Battle Royals maybe.

[01:01:18] But never one on one first time at up. To say stage of my career, it doesn't happen very often, especially with Wilbur who is been in the business even longer than I had.

[01:01:29] But what he doesn't know is that when it comes to OCW, when it comes to the Ohio Heritage Championship, I will do anything to get back that title that I hope to. Anything to make sure that once again, no Shane Jimmy Shane is a champion at OCW.

[01:01:45] And 1,029 days, 2,060 days. We'll see how long I'll have. All right. Well, Jimmy again, I can't thank you enough for being on the show. I'm looking forward to some of the best 2024 at the Magador Festival. That is where you will be vying for that Ohio Heritage Championship.

[01:02:06] Good luck to you. Thank you. All right. Here I am sitting with none other than Robbie Star from OCW. Robbie, welcome to the show. Thanks for having me, Jess. Good to be here. Good to have you.

[01:02:20] I'm really excited to have you on the show, especially since I've gotten a chance to kind of get involved with OCW. This is I'm new to this whole local regional professional wrestling and you guys are gracious enough to have me come and do some ring announcing recently.

[01:02:37] I just appreciate the opportunity. It was a lot of fun. And it was a great show. You guys had some great matches out there that day, so I'm excited to see what's happening in Magador as well.

[01:02:49] And we're dropping this right now to let people know that that's coming up some of her fest and in Magador, what's the date on Saturday? I don't even know what date that is. The 13th July 13th. July 13th Saturday at the Magador Festival. Yep.

[01:03:07] This will be OCW Summerfest. There's going to be a battle royal, which is going to be amazing. Have never seen something like that live, so I'm very excited to see how that comes out. What are you excited about about Magador Festival? Well, has it right now?

[01:03:22] The only thing that I know that I'm doing is is that battle royal and that is for the number one contender for the HWA championship. Now Lord Thomas the Browd has been a great champion.

[01:03:32] But his reign, let's say if I win the battle royal, which I plan on doing, his reign's going to come to an end in Magador because the winner of the battle royal gets a title shot that night. So whoever wins is going to wrestle twice.

[01:03:51] Well not only wrestle twice, wrestle all the other guys in the ring. True. And then face Lord Thomas the Browd. It's definitely a big task, but I'm a former three-time OCW Heavyweight Champion. And I'd like to add a number four to the trophy case.

[01:04:13] All right. Well, I mean, I'm excited. I'm very excited to see what's going to happen. Like I said, just having the chance to be in the ring even just for a few minutes to be able to announce these matches is a dream come true for me.

[01:04:26] So, so very excited to see that. I've got you here really with just like to get a chance to know you and for audience to get a chance to know you a little better as a wrestler.

[01:04:37] Tell us a little bit about how you first kind of became a wrestling fan. Usually people start out as fans before they actually step into the ring. I'm assuming that's the same for you. Tell us a little bit about how you became a wrestling fan.

[01:04:52] Well, how it became a wrestling fan. It started when I was very young. The neighborhood kids, they had like the action figures and they talked about wrestling and then they invited me to come see like a paper review.

[01:05:10] I think we went to their grandpa's house or their grandma on grandpa's house and I went and watched a paper review with my friends and I don't know if it was a camaraderie and also with the action that was on the TV but I was hooked.

[01:05:24] I think I believe it was WrestleMania 5. It was my first ever paper review that I actually watched like last. And that was Hulk O'B and versus Machiman Randy Savage. So those are the days man. Those are the mega powers explode. Those are some good days in wrestling.

[01:05:44] Yeah, I grew up with Hulk O'Gan and Machiman and the Iron Sheek and Andre the Giant. That was when I was a kid. So those are the memories that I have. And so I just love to harken back to those memories when I come and see you guys.

[01:06:01] Doing your thing at O'CW. What prompted you to actually step in the ring? Like how did that happen? Well, you know kids being kids, boys being boys we like to emulate what we saw on TV. So we decided to start our own wrestling organization on a trampoline

[01:06:25] and that lasted for probably way too long. We did it longer than we should have but we had fun with it. We didn't morph so because we'd like to take each other. We watched it back and laughed and just had fun and we had different characters

[01:06:44] that we worked part-trade and things like that. So doing that, just kind of made it easy for me to what I decided to actually get trained. I can tell that story too if you want. Sure. So what I actually decided to get trained,

[01:07:06] it made it easier for me to pick it up in the ring because I would watch and really try to emulate the moves on. Just hit each other with light tubes and jump off roofs and hurt each other back here, wrestling got a bad rap

[01:07:24] for back in the 90s and the 2000s. Segway into how I actually started to get trained. I was lifting at school, college actually. This girl just ran and she asked me, she's like, have you ever thought about being a pro wrestler? I just kind of looked at her.

[01:07:50] I was like, I thought she was like, make ribbon me or like, new me somehow. I was like, do you know who I am or something like that? And she's like, no, she's like, you have a good look

[01:07:59] and I work for this company down in the Kishokino Highell which is Ohio Chipping Supress Lane. It was based out of Kishokino at the time and she just thought I had a good look and she's like, I'm a valet, I work for the company

[01:08:12] and you have a good look, you should come down and get trained. I was like, I had no idea about independent wrestling. I just thought it was, you know, WCW and WE at the time, WWF at the time and I thought that was it.

[01:08:24] I had no idea about the smaller scale. It's still pro wrestling but it's independent pro wrestling. I had no idea about any of that. And so I fast forward, I think two weeks, two, three weeks or so and I went down to my first training session

[01:08:43] and it was big guns for wrestling academy at the time and big guns was the owner of OCDW and the trainer and as a free tryout and I got in the ring, did my thing, did the tryout? And he said, you know, you got a good look?

[01:08:59] What exactly would the girl send to me? She's like, I can train in, this is the cost of the school and the rest of history. Three months later I had my first match. I was fast, just graduate, ever, and big guns for wrestling academy.

[01:09:17] Wow, who would tell me about your first match? Who was that against? I think it was pretty weird, yeah, I do remember my first match. And I won't forget it. Strauss Bergel, High against Joe Joe, little. Great dude, always fun to be around.

[01:09:33] Like that night we were enemies but since then he's become pretty good, you know, friend of mine in the locker room and such and he doesn't rest a little anymore but he's been around a long time and him and I,

[01:09:49] I can't think I'm enough of that first match because we went out there and we had a pretty heat. He carrying me through it. It wasn't my best match at all by any means. Like he carrying me through it and maybe look as good as possible for sure.

[01:10:03] Well, I first started, when I first started following you in OS OCW and like kind of getting familiar with what you were doing, you were part of a tag team with No Shame, Jimmy Shane and tell me a bit about how that partnership started.

[01:10:25] Well, I was going through a phase, let's just stay. I was not happy without things were going and I needed a little bit of backup at the time and we surprised the world shockly OCW world. Jimmy was actually the cameraman but on the down low he was also

[01:10:48] training to be a pro wrestler. So he was the cameraman during the show and when I had enough with my partner or my hex partner at the time, Jimmy helped me. Jimmy helped me kind of get even with my hex partner and we ambushed him.

[01:11:11] He didn't see the cameraman coming you know from behind and drop him. Jimmy did a good job. Interesting, so there was a little bit of a betrayal that took place there.

[01:11:24] You know I've had my ups and downs in pro wrestling and I've done my fair share of back stabs and be trails you know it's all part of the game. Well just I find that interesting because obviously you know now you found yourself on the other end

[01:11:38] of that betrayal by that former cameraman to me Shane betraying you after a big win at OCW's big return, big bang I think it was called. Yeah and you guys one right in the middle of celebrating

[01:11:54] Jimmy decides to turn the tables on you. Yeah hi uh he got one of he got one over on me um I did not see that coming. He uh you know I taught him a lot. I didn't teach him everything I

[01:12:10] know but I did teach him a lot but that was something that I was on expecting. For the sheer fact we were still tag team champions you know we worked after he did that we were

[01:12:21] still chance and then he pulled another one over my head with bringing out waroffs. I don't know how he worked that into the contract but they annihilated me the next show so it's uh Jimmy's got

[01:12:38] to leg up right now but you know I got I got a couple cards in my back pocket let's just say that. Yeah he he I asked him so I spoke to Jimmy before you and I talked here he also did an interview with

[01:12:54] me and I asked him about that match where you guys defended the title for the last time or after his betrayal. He kind of forced a match where you guys needed to defend the title and and he he

[01:13:07] blames you for for that loss he's like you never tagged in you never you know he says he said basically you know typical robby he wanted to be the center of attention and uh you just never tagged

[01:13:21] in and so that was your fault what do you say to them? Well if I remember correctly I just taken pretty good beating and then he uh he brings out waroffs and uh he he also through shots

[01:13:38] in there and me right before warhouse came out so if you watch the take back it'll it'll show you play this day that I couldn't tag you know it's not it wasn't me trying to hog the lime

[01:13:52] lighter whatever he's insinuating I guess um it's him playing his game and sooner or later he's gonna mess up and he's gonna fumble and he's gonna get what's coming to him. Jimmy's

[01:14:10] full of it when he says that just the plain and said full of it. I know shopstag. I'm I'm gonna play a little bit of the interview a little clip here of him he's telling a

[01:14:23] little bit about uh why he he well let me before I play it why do you think he's doing why did you think he betrayed you? Has he said anything to you why do you think he's doing this like what's

[01:14:35] going on right now? We have in spoke uh since the only thing that I've seen is his little clips that he's trying to say that he's Mr. OCW and you know Jimmy I'll tell you this I've been around

[01:14:50] a lot longer than you um I basically brought you into this business you were my lackey for lack of better terms um when you first started and you if I remember right you

[01:15:07] basically worshiped everything that I did so uh I'm just interested in jealous is what it is I think he's a little jealous and he's mad that uh you know things aren't going his way

[01:15:21] and if not necessarily at me but he's taking an out on me because I've kind of given all that up with the betrayal and I appreciate the fans I appreciate the people I appreciate what OCW has

[01:15:36] become and has done for the community and is just great entertainment for you know market or spring field union town wherever we go we always bring excitement the fans love us the fans love

[01:15:52] the winners me and Jimmy you know and then for whatever reason he's just got this attitude now yeah I don't know I can't explain it Jeff it's interesting that you say that I'm gonna play this clip

[01:16:04] for you now um he actually used the same word lackey uh when uh he when he kind of retold the story I'm gonna see if this works if you're able to hear this let me find out if I can make a play

[01:16:17] typical Eagle Maniac Robbie Star he's dad Matt Mason in the back went out on his own then here this one to be on his own he saw in the young prexionable hammerman

[01:16:30] and knew I wanted nothing more than to be by his side I wanted to be at the top of the most UWP he often made the opportunity and Robbie started joking me on and I'll be honest that first

[01:16:39] I was his lucky a cherry does bag I got beat up for him I did everything he needed me and do over the years time to grasp we had our differences this ain't the first time the Robbie and I

[01:16:49] had our problems but it's the last time so that's everything he's done to me I finally see him for what he truly is and after after the way that OCW has fallen into shambles like it is right now

[01:17:03] it's not it's not the OCW I've done with it's not the OCW that Robbie Star started in but he's happy to be here he's just happy to the coast on the memories I'm not happy

[01:17:13] to coast on memories I'm ready to change things for the better so that's that's his opinion of where OCW you were talking about how much you love OCW and he says it's not the same OCW what

[01:17:26] he said to that well I steply not the same OCW definitely not he's he's right about that but there are a lot of chairs and memories throughout the years and that's something

[01:17:43] that in my my part of my career right now I enjoy looking back on I enjoy the good old days but I ask them to enjoy right now not so much to predicament that him and Iron but I enjoy

[01:17:56] still going out there still entertaining the fans still being the show show in everybody why I am through my hand and what I do and why I do it the fact of the latter is this Jeff

[01:18:15] I go by the show Robbie Star because I go out there and I put on a show I feel like I am the show I feel like I can steal the show any chance anytime anywhere any event I'm on and

[01:18:33] it's always been that way I've recently developed the moniker of the show where I'm starting I've never I haven't always been the show but in my heart and in my soul and everything

[01:18:47] that I do with wrestling I always got there and given my own I give it my best and Jimmy knows that Jimmy's been around me he's right we've had our problems we've had our ups and downs we've seen

[01:18:58] I die we've been in each other's strokes but the fact of the matter that of this is he did something so conniving and so untrustworthy to put me in that kind of harms way when we were we were

[01:19:18] taking shapeings we were friends we were basically brothers we go out and we hang out and we have hearts to heart to hearts all the time we we we talk about our love and our passion for

[01:19:31] this business why we do what we do total blindside total blindside I'm at a lost words really because did not see it coming did not see it coming but now I know what's inside Jimmy's

[01:19:47] heart and I know what's in what he's thinking now and he's he's asked for a war and he's gonna get one you guys are are gonna face each other the week after some or fast that palini's

[01:20:03] and can I'll full right no yeah palino's yeah palino's yeah palino I can't say it palino mania is that right palino four yeah I'm gonna have to say it on on on Saturday so I gotta get it

[01:20:16] get it right but the in order to tell people about it but yeah you've challenged him to a street fight and I before we go I'd like for you to just if you could tell us a little about what we could

[01:20:32] expect and then if this is the chance if you want to talk to Jimmy tell him what to expect from the street fight well palino mania is stepping canal full to know hi on that is Jimmy Shane's home

[01:20:48] and it's actually where I live too like I said we go we used to go and hang out we used to go to palinos that's where we would have our heart to hearts you know palino

[01:20:58] mania has become the wildest night of the year it's our fourth show there our annual our fourth annual show um and it's only gotten better and bigger and more crazy every year and like I said Jimmy asked

[01:21:19] for a war and so I knew I I know the fans at palino mania I know what they want I know what they like and they're gonna they're gonna be in for a special treat just like Jimmy's gonna be in

[01:21:33] now let's just say for a special beating when it comes to a street fight because there's no holds no holds bar anything goes um basically the the way to win is making your opponent quit

[01:21:45] or pin them one two three weapons chairs anything you can take out yes it's a street fight anything goes yeah this sounds like it's gonna be an amazing night obviously I'm gonna have to come back

[01:22:01] that following week after uh summer fest and and that's the other thing too he's he's uh concentrating right now on the Ohio Heritage Championship he has a chance to win that at summer fest and so that's where he says you know he's putting his focus right now

[01:22:18] and then you're just trying to distract him but um yeah the week he'd have the exact popcorn the kettle black yeah Jimmy's been in my business ever since uh this break up

[01:22:32] and kind of been distracting me sitting beer in my face they're gonna be a lot more than beer getting spattin each other's faces cumpawino mania now if for some reason if for some reason Jimmy's saying comes out uh on top after Magador and when Zio Hileherit is Shital

[01:22:55] don't worry I've got a I've got a special stipulation for the street fight if he if he is the champion so interesting all right let's get there's definitely will tease there some of these

[01:23:07] should be looking for a let's just say that's a title that I've never held officially in OCW okay all right well this is um this has been really great Robbie I really appreciate you coming

[01:23:21] on the show and talking to us a little bit I'm looking very much looking forward to seeing you on Saturday we'll we'll make sure to post that we're gonna tell all of our friends about it as well

[01:23:31] Robbie again thank you for being here good luck best of luck in the battle royal and obviously in the street fight uh and we'll we'll see you we'll see you there sounds good Jeff love and

[01:23:42] all right so there you have it no shame Jimmy Shane and the show Robbie star in their own words talking about the beef that they have and how it's all all gonna culminate at this street fight

[01:23:57] at Palinis in Canal Fulton on the 20th July 2020 we didn't mean it wasn't any there it's at all no you're gonna want to be there for that but um I honestly have no idea what's gonna happen at Magador because they still they're both gonna be there at Magador

[01:24:14] right there there this there may be some jim no shame Jimmy Shane as he said he's he's then I want contender for the Ohio Heritage Championship that night will he come away from that match

[01:24:25] the champion the new Ohio Heritage Champion that night and if he is for how long will he have to put it on the line in the street fight like I don't know like there's who knows so be at

[01:24:36] Magador summer fest 8 p.m because it's gonna be a great event but also because I will be there and I will be loved the fact that you came out and heard it about us on here so please please say hello

[01:24:49] maybe you're gonna sticker now I'll bring some stickers if you come up bring something that you heard about this show or you heard about the OCW show on World

[01:25:09] you're the one the mic also look like he belongs there like if he if one of the other guys got into the same time he might get broken that's me so basically come up and say hi during the

[01:25:24] the intermission and and things like that or whenever you get a chance and I will give you a world gun geek sticker for free yeah nice free anyway but I will give you one there and I

[01:31:06] if you use this promo code are you ready rest low-code wrestler geek all one word wrestler geek all one word wrestler geek you put that in 10% off you don't have to be a wrestler

[01:32:15] guess when that's Pennsylvania dude look you're just stating facts that was just stating I don't like he got to have, but Jimmy Shane made some points about Robby's past that need to be taken into consideration. So look, I'll leave. I'll leave has to the listener. What's that?

[01:32:35] I'm going to root for whoever has our t-shirt. That's true. We did sell a t-shirt to one of them and I'm not going to, maybe he'll wear it in the ranks. Probably not. I'm probably not. I'm just stating and just putting it out there. Yeah.
