We invite friend of the podcast, Matt Sugerik (Promptly Written), to join us to discuss which five Christmas movies you would binge in the days leading up to Christmas. We also discuss whether or not Home Alone is a Christmas movie. What?!?!?

[00:00:00] Right? It does start with Thanksgiving. We just realized that this year, I've seen them movie a billion times and one of the kids actually mentioned just like, well, they watched they watch the Thanksgiving Day parade. You know, and I'm like holy crap, their family
[00:00:14] is staying in that house together for a month. Like I never put it together. I mean, obviously, I know, except for cousin Eddie. He's a he's staying outside. Right. That air. But I'm like, I'm like, you're right. That's the Thanksgiving Day parade. That is crazy to me, because
[00:00:39] I don't think I noticed it either and that's one of my favorite things to quote in the movie is, oh, here they are. Here come the nuts. Like, yeah. We're all living in a world gone geek. It's time
[00:00:51] to geek hard or go home. The podcast is real. Here's your host, Grounded Geek. Well, hello there. Hi. How you been? It's been a while. I know, right? Last time we were here,
[00:01:15] we spoke to a band called Toby Danger. That was a lot of fun. Got into a discussion about a certain action movie and whether it's a Christmas movie and just sparked the idea that we need to have
[00:01:26] a whole show just about Christmas movies. So I think it's time that we do that now. And this is normally where I would put the title song in, but I'm not going to do that. I'm going to edit that
[00:01:38] in later. But for you guys watching live, you get to see this part. So let me introduce my co-host there's Utah and that will be you. Welcome to the show guys. I have a meeting. I haven't seen you guys
[00:01:50] and forever. It's been, I mean, it was before extra life, I think. Is it? Yeah, it was Halloween. It was Halloween episode. We're just getting to how we write the Christmas. That's 40, that's what everybody else does. More Thanksgiving. And natural. We live in Thanksgiving.
[00:02:08] We need more hits on itself. I know that's so bad. Well, how was your Thanksgiving? It was good. You know what? Ever since, you know, the lockdown with the beginning of the pandemic,
[00:02:21] our Thanksgiving went from like a friend's giving with a couple of families and then down to just us in the household. And we liked how much less stressful that was, how much, you know, less time consuming and just in general, how much more relaxing a family Thanksgiving was
[00:02:40] that we've been doing that ever since. And I don't think we're ever going to go back. So we had a very, very low-key small Thanksgiving with a family. We had Karen's mom over as well, briefly
[00:02:53] and we watched, we watched, spirited. The Ryan Reynolds will fare Christmas. We got to get into that. We're going to talk to them about that when we get to the Christmas. So yeah, so another
[00:03:03] another low-key, low-everage, low stress Thanksgiving. So nice. Yes, we believe you know what about too? Yeah, my mother's pretty similar. I mean, like, we naturally don't really do anything with our external families. Like, I, Dad's family lives in West Virginia and my mom has two
[00:03:30] nasiblings to wrangle them all together for the holidays because she's one of 14. So you know, it's a lot to wrangle everybody together. Yeah, you know. And so it was us just us and it was really
[00:03:46] nice. It was the first time that my sister, my notice is there was able to come in and celebrate Thanksgiving 2017 and it was just really nice. I saw the pictures of your sisters online those are sweet.
[00:04:01] Yeah, I know everyone's like, good old twins. I guess you guys are related. If there's, yeah, I don't know. That's awesome. That's awesome. Yeah, we had a similar. We actually had everybody at the house for a change. So Rachel came back
[00:04:20] with her. Yeah, hubby and Nathan came over. My wife made amazing, amazing dinner. And yeah, another dinner she wouldn't let anybody help with. Wait, that's the opposite. My mom was on full-fledged strike this Thanksgiving.
[00:04:40] She was like, I am not cooking. There's a four well equipped young adults in this home. That's gonna have to know. We think she prepared was the turkey. Wow. It's nice. The rest was up to us.
[00:04:58] Well, good. My wife is just we're just in the way if we come into the kitchen to try to help. Yeah. Yeah. Like so. Some of the kids helped set up the table and we did a lot of cleaning the day before,
[00:05:10] but she did all the cooking. It was really good though. But yeah, it's fun to have the whole family there. And that was it felt like, you know, Thanksgiving. Now we're looking for it. Hopefully doing that again for Christmas. Maybe not the big dinner. But everybody getting together
[00:05:23] because the last two Christmas has been COVID Christmas is for us. And Rachel and Dan couldn't come over and various people. So we're hoping this time we can everybody together. Yeah, but Thanksgiving was good.
[00:05:39] That was good. And I'm thankful for this show and for you guys. And so it's been good. Did to do to. Yeah. To toe. All right. Well, you know, we live on on Twitch. And I forgot to change the,
[00:05:59] did you forget to change the heading or the. Yeah, that's the notification. Okay. What are we talking about? Everybody thinks we're playing Gotham Knights right now. And that's always. That was a game that we played during extra life, which was a lot of fun. You
[00:06:13] taught and I raised a lot of money for extra life. Matt who will be joining us later was part of the team and his son. Yeah. Whole bunch of other people in Cleveland, McLeod and extra life team
[00:06:26] raised a lot of money for rainbow babies and children's hospitals. So that was on November fifth and sixth or sixth that weekend. But I am still raising money. I don't know what these guys are
[00:06:38] doing, but you know, we've got a, you know, a couple more weeks before the year is up. And I am trying to get at least to my goal, which is 750 if I can get to a thousand, then I will definitely
[00:06:50] I'll get that gold medal. But not worried about that. I just want to hit that 750. So if you can help, the details will be down in the show notes. And yeah, we'll be, I have an interesting
[00:07:04] challenge that I'm doing this year. You can check it out. All right, Utah show us what you've got. Introduce yourself. This is Lola. Oh my gosh. From course from Canobi. Yeah. I, of course, there's a little high. She's so is that are you puppeteering that?
[00:07:26] No, this is it's due to automatically on it. She's okay all on herself. She's a allegedly voice activated, but okay, yes, she's voice activated. Oh, that's pretty cool. So where can one acquire one of these if they want to get that
[00:07:44] for Christmas for one of their friends? Yeah, so game stop. This is a hasbro. Hey, now this this is a hasbro Lola and you can get this a game stop or hasbro pulse.com. I think Target has has her as well. And she comes with a little stand.
[00:08:08] She's a little sense of the other legs. Yes, so cute. It's a little sense of the fact that when you lift her up, she's like, no, it's too high. Yeah, so safe. But yeah, she's a lot of fun. She's cute. She's definitely,
[00:08:22] I'm much more animated than I expected. So I'm happy about that. Yes, I'm telling you, yes, yes, there's also, okay, there's also a smaller version, but this is the larger version.
[00:08:36] Okay, there I go. There I ask what that's you don't have to tell us if you don't want to, but we'll just go to GameStop and look. How much does that cost? That's a good question.
[00:08:48] I actually don't remember. I think $70, 60 or 70. Okay, this is not as bad as I would have expected. For for this for this version, there's a smaller less active version, which maybe I should have gotten. Yeah, she's quite nice. It's about 40. So, okay, all right, say my lower.
[00:09:12] Lola, but Lola, Lola. Does she turn off? Is that a hint? No, no, there's no off. Like what does she do just go to sleep and then whenever you start talking, she's like Alexa, what is this? Yeah, usually what happens is I glare at her and do this.
[00:09:33] I guess you shut up. Interesting. Yeah, I, uh, that was actually responsible. Like, like Siri, then I would not survive with that thing. Siri is constantly buttoning in my conversations.
[00:09:50] And I'm like, why are you listening to me right now? You weren't, I didn't, I wasn't talking to you. She's been on this show several times in the past. Yeah, remember?
[00:09:59] Just watch what you were funny is that, you know, my daughter's been his type sim and her nickname is Simey. And there are times where we will first see us in Siri, go, oh hey, that's me. And when you know it's not, it's not you. That's great.
[00:10:14] Little, uh, equal to a simple there, Siri. Right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's not every time I want to. Thank you. That's what I was going to go. That's exactly what I was going to say. Good grief, Siri. Come on.
[00:10:25] All right. Well, tonight we are going to be talking about Christmas movies. We have, um, a guest coming in here to talk with us about it. We do that though. One of the things that we like that people do around Christmas is they give gifts to people. Right?
[00:10:41] Well, I have some gifts for some listeners who would be interested in getting a hold of a blue ray copy of season one up. Hello, we're giving away some copies. We've got a copy. We're
[00:10:52] given away on Twitter. So if you follow us there and respond to that, just look for that, uh, that tweet and respond there. Same thing in Instagram. There's an Instagram tweet or Instagram tweet.
[00:11:04] An Instagram, Graham. We're a story post. Oh, yeah. Just a post. It's a Instagram Graham. Yeah, go there. You can try to win one there and then I'm going to give away a couple more
[00:11:18] copies right here on the show. So let me read the the spiel from Paramount because that's part of it. The first season of the Paramount plus series halo based on the Xbox game franchise.
[00:11:32] Xbox is now available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K, UHD with every episode from season one and over five hours of special features, C. Master Chief Cortana and the other Spartans of Silver Team, take on humanity's greatest threat that covenant get your DVD, Blu-ray or 4K, UHD copy of
[00:11:52] Halo today from Paramount home entertainment and you can get it right here from us. We're going to give that would be for your halo loving. Do do do do do do do. And you tell me you'll learn the
[00:12:06] Halo theme on New York. The Halo theme. That would have been a lot more impressive, but now well done. Well done with the halo theme there. Yeah, I don't know if you guys watched that
[00:12:20] on Paramount plus. I watched the first two episodes. Yeah, it's one of those shows that I same. Well, go ahead. You weren't just on it yet? No, I didn't feel compelled to continue.
[00:12:37] Gotcha. But I feel like I should because two episodes is not enough. Now you got to give it that the right. I'm the same way. I didn't finish it either but it was more because
[00:12:48] I watched so many people show stuff and then when I get caught up in another show, I just you know what I mean stuff falls by the wayside. So this is not the only show that though by
[00:12:58] the wayside, I think I saw like three or four episodes. I thought it was pretty good. You know, I think I'm on the boat of everyone else's. I wish they hadn't unmasked. Chief. That's one of my
[00:13:11] problems. That was the greatest thing. But once you get over that, it's really like the special effects are amazing. Like the covenant and the ships and everything are just really, really good.
[00:13:24] So I'm really looking forward to finishing it and I would recommend if you are a halo fan that check it out. I mean, you just want to check it out to be part of that whole halo experience.
[00:13:33] But yeah, if you go in with that, you know, I don't want to see Master Chief without his helmet on. Yeah, you're going to be disappointed when they have that. And also, no, no, no slight deport
[00:13:46] Pablo Srebrenko. I think his name is he, he doesn't want to, well, he doesn't look like to make Master Chief look no, but in the end, no fall of his own. It's just right. That's how he
[00:13:57] looks. That's his, he's just being, you know, like my face, what do you want? I didn't have a proud. I did never have a problem with that. I think he was doing a good job as Master Chief.
[00:14:05] Based on what I've seen so far. Yeah. But that is just, that's not who I, I don't know who I pictured, but it wasn't him. And maybe, maybe it's not anybody again. Maybe I would have been
[00:14:15] that as well no matter who it was. Right. Well, those were the things about the Halo series. Is I like we don't know who that mystery looks like. And so we can all be mad. We are all Master Chief.
[00:14:25] Right. And I also find it interesting that the Halo series decided to make their own universe. So their story that they go over in the series doesn't necessarily fit in with the established canon from the games or they're starting. It's like a rebutt kind of.
[00:14:44] Yeah, it's their own thing. And so which I guess makes sense because they're not, you know, shoehorned into what's already happened. Right. And if you don't like it, play Halo. For crying. And sure, then just play the game because the games are so well written. I tell you
[00:14:59] what one through three and ODST is just an incredible. And reach, reach is one of my favorite. Reach was good. Reach was good too. Holy cow, reach has one of the best stories of all.
[00:15:07] Halo cow. I love cow. I should have, I'm going to take that. It's going to be a new sound on the sound board. I'm going to have Halo cow. I'm not sure if you say that again for me.
[00:15:23] Halo cow. Perfect. There. I'm going to cut that and we'll use that as a sound. Well, people who kind of sound like so how can you win this? I guess I should tell people that.
[00:15:34] But if you're asking people win this, this is for our podcast listeners. There's one person watching live. So if you want one jump into the chat and you're going to get it, you'll get that
[00:15:42] copy because you're here. But if, if you're listening on the podcast and we have a couple of these left. So if you're listening, what's the best way for them to win this? Do you think should we
[00:15:56] get a secret word of some sort that they've got a Halo cow? Halo cow. You have to, you have to say what's up. You have to record yourself saying, hey, look wow, now you're going to go to our website, which is where we gone geek.com. Right.
[00:16:17] And here I'm going to put things where they can record themselves. There absolutely is. You're absolutely correct. Let me see here, Chrome tab. We're all gone geek. There we are. Look at that cool website and that cool, but down here at the bottom, I don't see it.
[00:16:32] It's all snaps. I thought it was sharing. No. Oh, any of you to bring it up. There we go. There it is. Look at it. Look at that cool website. It's a cool website. Well, down here,
[00:16:42] I'll shoot. I'm in the way of it. Hold on. Look at that cool website. How do we got to get it? So that there we go. All right down there is a bottom right hand corner of the website is this little,
[00:16:55] I don't know if you can see it a little microphone there. And when you click that, you can record a voice message that you will send directly to us. So ask for email.
[00:17:04] So when you put your email in there, if you are the winner, then I will email you. But yeah, just go there. Record yourself saying, hey, hello cow. And yeah, I don't know how it sounds like.
[00:17:17] You could end up doing a bonus entry where they've recorded what they think a halo cow would sound like. Sure, if you could do that, then not only will I feature those sounds on the next episode,
[00:17:31] but we will, yeah, we will add an additional entry into winning those copies. But I will inform the winners via email. All you gotta do is go to the website and record your message right there.
[00:17:42] It's very simple. Easy as that. And it's the whole season, you know? I mean, I'm blue right. Cool. It's the holiday season and who do you do? Do you do something something don't forget to hang
[00:17:57] if you're a sock? Because that just exactly 12 o'clock. He'll become a town in the channel. Now is it exactly 12 o'clock? Is that when Santa Claus? So, you know, there are a lot of their lot of theories. I guess so. All right, who knows?
[00:18:14] And when the holiday season comes along, everybody starts talking about Christmas movies. They start debating on what is a Christmas movie. That's not necessarily what we're doing tonight. Although we will talk about it. I'm sure that will come up here and there. But yeah, we're going to
[00:18:29] talk about kind of what our favorite Christmas movies are. What our family traditions around movies have been. If you're out there listening, we'd love for you to share on your in the chat with us.
[00:18:40] What your movies would be. But we're not doing it alone. We've brought a guest with us today. We have. We have. And I brought him along because I know he has some some opinions on
[00:18:52] your business. And so I've got my sensor button ready. No, I'm kidding. We have brought it along our good friend Matt Shigeric from promptly written podcast. Welcome, sir. How's it going, guys? Thanks for having me. It's good. I'm so glad you're here.
[00:19:09] It's I feel like we haven't all seen each other's faces in forever and ever. It's been like, guys, it's all like a chat. Look, are you like, you're you're in Santa's house.
[00:19:18] Aren't you looking to you with a Christmas movie? I am in Santa's house. Is that a, is that root off on the door? No, no. That would be root off stuff.
[00:19:29] root off spin gone for years. And what I believe it will only have makes a good point. Is that real or is it green screen? It does kind of look like green screen. So it is real.
[00:19:38] That's funny. This is real. Oh my gosh. Yeah. Can you just push it over? Oh, there you just knocked out for me. That was Matt acting like a cat. Oh, man. Matt the cat. Matt. Matt. That's a cool cat. That's right. Well, welcome to the show.
[00:19:57] It's good to see you. Tell everybody what you've been up to with promptly written real quick. Just kind of give everybody an update on your podcast. What's going on? This was a weird year for us.
[00:20:07] There was some stuff going on personally that actually caused us for the first time in almost five year run to miss an episode. So we actually missed two episodes. But we're back. I'm really happy
[00:20:18] because we are episode that comes out tomorrow is my annual Christmas story and I don't know if you've heard my Christmas stories before, but they can kind of go off the rails. So I'm pretty excited about it.
[00:20:30] You know, all right. So this is already recorded in drops tomorrow. Your drops tomorrow. Nice. You know, I don't have this Spotify Spotify and I heart wherever you can find the podcast there.
[00:20:44] Cool. Well, to check it out promptly. I feel like we should do another group scene because I was eating motivating for me to do this. I mean, that you mentioned that. Wow. That's a great segue,
[00:20:55] Leo. Yeah. Because Matt and I literally were talked about right before we started. Yeah, we're planning another crossover and we're probably shooting for March. I think we're talking about right. So I
[00:21:09] think last year it was our March episode. The drop the first week of March. So I think if we could time it up, that would be good. If not, you know, just sometime in the first quarter, probably,
[00:21:19] whatever was for your guy. Well, for you guys, we have to kind of talk about him. I haven't seen to figure out what we're going to do. Yeah, looking forward to it. And so that would mean the prompt
[00:21:26] would drop in the episode in February. Right? Right. So we do another book. I think we should. Yeah, there was like, oh, I have some suggestions. Yeah, you do it again.
[00:21:39] Yeah, well, yeah. Who does that? Oh, yeah. I'm going to stop you real quick for a technical issue. I think microphone is your, did your microphone switch? I think your microphone switch from your actual
[00:21:51] podcast mic to either headphones or the on board mic. I don't know why it does this. Yeah. Well, give you a second. It says default. Oh, yeah, not default. I want to change it to the don't whatever your microphone is there. You're better. You deserve better than default.
[00:22:10] That's right. Yeah. Don't settle for default. I love this show. I do so fun. So while I love that you said, you know, in the first time you're five of your history that you missed an episode and we're like, women's episodes all the time.
[00:22:26] Yeah. We're just like, we literally just missed like three episodes in a row, but it was because family stuff when we're just, you know, when things are going on life happens. Yeah, life happens.
[00:22:36] This podcast. You hear me? Great. It's fun. I love it. Yes. Yes. You sound better. Yeah. It's just hard. I thought bad because we're monthly. You know, we're not weekly or anything. Yeah. Yeah. I totally get
[00:22:45] the months without an episode and it was just we've been going pretty strong. But, uh, you know, we're back. Got no foul things happen. It does right. I can't wait for the Christmas episode. I also can't wait for the next prompt anyways. Well, Dodden you've all done.
[00:23:02] So we're really excited about that one. I'm sure. It's a way which won one, which won one. Oh, you can't tell us yet, tomorrow. No, well, I could tell you because if you're, you know,
[00:23:12] people get it inside, but it was Utah's prompt and it is um, now that looks like a mouthful. Oh my gosh. I put one up while it was my mine was good. I think it was very simple. I don't remember what it was. It was just a parapriant.
[00:23:31] You were supposed to come up. That's new. That was yours. Yeah. Maybe I mean back then, I was going to say Matt, you of all people could make that inappropriate as well. Oh yeah. Yeah. Well, here's the thing with me. Like,
[00:23:48] what I try to do in these cases is I try to not be inappropriate and what is I feel like I just lean into it. Like, and I could incorporate your prompt. Like, oh, that looks like a mouthful, you know, pause. Huh. That's new.
[00:24:06] Interesting. Well, we'll have to see. I have to um, that's the one for the January for the January. That's not the Christmas one. Okay. Yeah. Did you know they're poem? Because I tell you what,
[00:24:18] last year's poem was. Was it work of art? We probably shouldn't speak the last year's poem in this venue here, but no, it was not a poem. Okay. All right. All right. Well speaking of Christmas,
[00:24:34] that's the segue. That's the one. Yeah. That's the segue. Yeah. That's what that's called. The segue. So the prompt, basically, that gave the three of you for tonight's show, was there five, it's the five days before Christmas. We got five days until Christmas.
[00:24:51] Five evenings where you can watch a Christmas movie each night leading up to the big day. And so the question is, there's only going to be five more movies for this. What are the five
[00:25:03] movies that that you have to watch during that time? And then again, this isn't, you can interpret at how if you want, but my thought process is not, this is the greatest Christmas
[00:25:12] movie of all time. So I think, sometimes the one I think is one of the greatest Christmas, I don't watch it every year. You're going to mean like that's not necessarily a must watch.
[00:25:21] And I made my list based on kind of what the family chooses and we always see these five. You know what I mean? There are others that are on my fan of that fall in other places.
[00:25:32] So that's kind of how I looked at it. So these are not necessarily the top 12345 in there in order and that kind of stuff. But if you only had five days to watch Christmas
[00:25:42] movies before the big day, a card to get yourself in the mood, what would those, what your gut reaction, what are your first five movies that you'd pick? So I don't know. I feel like I want to let Matt go first.
[00:25:58] So would you be like someone else? Should we like each like go kind of round up in an each name one as we go around? Well, let's get everybody. So I don't know. Did anyone
[00:26:10] do it where the five are kind of in an order? So the one I just decrystimists is the one that really is the one you always watch like that close. Now I didn't really. I personally didn't rank them. I just
[00:26:23] picked the five that would be the ones that we would watch the week before Christmas and then I have a handful of honorable mentions because ranking them is so difficult. You know? It is.
[00:26:36] For me, the ranking is just like I said, there's one that we watch every Christmas Eve. Like it that's just the day that we watched that. There's another one that we watch every Christmas
[00:26:45] day at some point. It's on the television we watch it. But that would be an all day. Exactly. That isn't necessarily one of the five I'm going to mention. You know what I mean? Because it's
[00:26:57] kind of like it's us it's just on all day so we're definitely going to watch it. But there's one we make a point to watch, like get the copy out or digitally grab it whatever and watch it
[00:27:09] on that day. Christmas Eve. And then the others could be anywhere in the mix. So yeah, I mean, I guess I mean, I'll start and then if you also had that on your list, we could just kind of talk about
[00:27:23] how's that? There we go. Let's do that. I like that. So so I would I say the first one that we usually watch of the season, although I'm going to I'm going to segue or I'm going to side note here because
[00:27:33] that's what we do. Then we segue back and we side note out that we segue back. So I'm going to side note out and just mention that this year we we didn't follow our kind of normal procedures.
[00:27:46] We actually watched the Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special yesterday. Oh, yeah, we watch. Oh my gosh, it's so funny. Yeah, it's really fun. It's really funny. It has my favorite new Christmas
[00:27:59] song of all time. I'm great. I think it's going to definitely I got to get it on I hope it's unspotted by because I'm adding my playlist for Christmas. It's so great. But that's not one of my
[00:28:10] lists. I'm just saying that that's what we started with. But typically the first movie we watch of the season has been in the past, elf with Will Ferrell directed by just totally blanked on his
[00:28:24] name not Vince Von the other guy. John Fett. John Fett. The Star Wars one. Yeah, not Vince Von the other one. That's the other one. That's not fair to. The Fatt Row. Fatt Row is an amazing director
[00:28:40] and I just couldn't remember his name. It's not Vince Von and John Fett. I've been to, you know, they're pretty great. They're the great. And Matt Damon of also Hollywood. I guess they're
[00:28:52] all in the same hot thing. So that wouldn't work anyway. Yeah, so elf will Ferrell. I feel like it's kind of gets a sets of stage for the rest. It's funny. It's silly. It's heart warming at the same
[00:29:05] time. And we, you know, gets us in the mood for the holidays. It's kind of kicks everything off. What do you did any of you else have? It's a yes. Yes, absolutely.
[00:29:16] All right. For four points for elf. That's not what we're doing. But I'm just going to say yeah, the palestone, elf is an agreeable. Yeah, this is a game where the points don't matter.
[00:29:26] That's my Drew Kerry impression. Elf. Yeah, there we go. So I don't know if any you had the same experience with Elf, but the first couple of times I saw it, I cringed. It was so embarrassing. Like every
[00:29:39] time Will Ferrell opened his mouth. I was like, oh my god, don't do it. You're going to embarrass yourself. And it took me like three or four times before I actually do appreciate them. Who kind of
[00:29:47] will love it? I was just like, oh my god. Now we're putting in because of the humor or re-cringing because of this person in that situation and you're like, oh my god, kind of like Michael Scott.
[00:29:59] Right. Like, oh my gosh. Why are you saying? Oh, gotcha. Yeah. Okay. I thought that meant like because it's like, oh no, you know, garbage or something. No, no, but now every time he jumps over that
[00:30:09] desk and says, buddy, the elf, what's your favorite color? I lose. There's so many great lines. It's yeah, you know, and it's there's something about it that's so innocent and sheer and
[00:30:22] wholesome and full of heart. That smile is my favorite. Yeah. I love I love, you know, the Narragorn. Hope you've earned your dad. It's my wife's favorite. It's just like we're
[00:30:34] looking to do. You know, it's just it really is just yeah, we love it. We love we love um and we'll Ferrell did a great job in that role. I can't imagine anybody else playing buddy.
[00:30:47] I mean, he definitely is a staple of Christmas for a lot of people now, I think. I think so now he's in another Christmas movie, Spirit It. Somebody said they watched that.
[00:30:55] Yes, we we as a family went ahead and watched Spirit It with Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell. And it's it's a musical which is another Christmas classic is Will Ferrell back to become the
[00:31:07] King of Christmas. Uh, I enjoyed it a lot, but I think I think it's going to become a Christmas classic, but I don't think it's going to be up near the top like Elfrey or a lot of people.
[00:31:22] Yeah, but it's Will Ferrell. Like the more Christmas movies he makes that become a fruit of the class and it's true. It's true. He becomes the King. It's like, you know, he's the King of Christmas. Yeah. No, that's how it is. And it's not that's the royal
[00:31:34] success that's that's how it works. That's that's the Christmas King clause. But um, it's nice. It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a entertaining retelling of, you know, Christmas Carol. And there's some, there's some interesting twists that didn't quite see that came up in the plot.
[00:31:52] And again, Will Ferrell does a great job of kind of playing this really wholesome genuine really from from the heart character so that and Ryan Reynolds is hilarious. I mean, he's just always funny.
[00:32:03] He's yeah. Oh, yeah. That's on our list for this holiday season for sure. We just, uh, uh, don't know when that's going to pop up yet. But I got to watch it before before it's good.
[00:32:13] It's definitely worth a watch for sure. I recommend it. What were you going to say about elf early yet? Cause I could see that you were you had some opinions. Oh, no, I was going to say
[00:32:26] that is actually exactly what I was going to say. I really wanted to do. I like just that whole estranged combination of weird candies. Yeah. And I know it. The for for a group, right?
[00:32:42] Candy, the candy corn candy cane and so except that no candy corn syrup. Except. Okay. So that's the right. No, is it can, because candy candy corn, the first one was candy and then candy corn is candy in a cane corn. It's it's something like that.
[00:32:58] Yeah, something that's right. But you know, Alia is of the camp, it is part of the camp that doesn't like candy corn. So are you a part of the camp that likes candy corn? I like candy corn. I'm like, I don't want to run out and like,
[00:33:12] I'm neutral for it. I'm like, yeah, if it's around, I'm going to eat it. It's good. Right. I'm not going to go, but I'm going to go with the cast. Right. I don't go to Costco and buy like
[00:33:21] the 50 pound bag of candy corn. But I also, if I see it, I might reach an eat some, but it's not like my favorite. But I also don't hate it. It's not like I go burning candy corn factories because
[00:33:34] like Alia, how much I hate like some people. You know, yeah, I'm not very curious at how much candy corn makes in a year and they make $36 annually in sales. Who was about here by candy corn?
[00:33:53] I don't know. Rightfully, everybody except you, Alia. Well, it's not me. We don't buy it. But I eat that's right. We don't buy it. People who do. No, they, oh my gosh. They make about 35 million pounds of candy corn a year. This is wow.
[00:34:11] Then they make like a dollar a pound. So it's a little, they make a little over a dollar a pound. That sounds like it. Is that really? How much does he cost to make it? That's what I want to. It's like
[00:34:20] that's it. $212 a year. Well, you know, it's not. There's a richist candy makers in the entire but come out, we don't know how long candy corn takes to grow until you can harvest. Exactly. That's true.
[00:34:36] So I mean, I mean, you know, you can't just like make it. You got to like plant it and grow it. And then you have to harvest it. You got to time it all. All right. Are you looking to see how much
[00:34:46] it costs to make it? Yeah. I really want. I don't think they have, I doubt that that's really. I'm going to move on to the next movie if you find it. Yeah. All right. So the second movie on my list of
[00:34:59] you know, that during those five days we have to watch it's either one of their and this is going to spark a conversation, I think. But it's either one or two home alone. The first one of the
[00:35:11] second ones, whichever one we're in the mood for maybe if we watched the first one last year, watch the second one last year. It's just fun. So does anyone else have home alone
[00:35:22] of any kind on their list? Okay. So I'm going to go home alone, home alone. I'm going to get in one. I mean, I have it. All right. That's your map. Let's all right. I also have an issue.
[00:35:34] I'm sure that I think I heard you say in your introduction that you've already had the dihard. Is it a Christmas movie? Conversation. We had that conversation with Toby Danger. Yeah,
[00:35:44] because they actually, well, they wrote a song about it. If you go to, yeah, they have a song. And then if you go to Toby Danger website, you can get Christmas sweater sweatshirt. That says
[00:35:54] dihard is a Christmas movie. It's pretty amazing. So plug for Toby Danger there. Just real quick. I just wanted, but just because this is going to help me state like present my case, if you will.
[00:36:03] So I'm on the camp that dihard is indeed a Christmas movie for the first time. The simple fact that John McLean is not in Los Angeles if it's not Christmas. The Christmas party,
[00:36:14] needs to be taking place in order for the criminals to have everybody isolated to a single floor. Christmas is imperative to that plot. Like without Christmas, the movie doesn't have their getting in that building. There's no way all those people are isolated. And John McLean's in New York,
[00:36:28] right? Yes. So dihard is 100% a Christmas movie. Christmas isn't necessary to that plot. Home alone. It is absolutely 100% not. It happens to be at Christmas time. They go on vacation. I see what that is. But literally, Christmas doesn't really have anything to do with it except for the
[00:36:48] fact that it takes place at Christmas time. He's home alone. There's criminals casing. I guess you could make the case that the criminals are casing the block because they know people are away for Christmas.
[00:36:58] Right. That's about as loose as you can get. So I kind of... Okay. I love home alone. I watch it during the holidays. I don't think it's a Christmas movie. See? Okay. So I'm going to... I'm going to meet
[00:37:10] halfway. Okay. I still think it's a Christmas movie, but the reason you just named are 100% the reasons that I use to tell someone that dihard is. So someone tells me that dihard is not a Christmas movie. Then I say, neither is home alone. Right. Because of all the...
[00:37:27] Basically all the things you said. However, in home alone, I will admit that he goes to Santa to ask him to get his family back. It's his wish. You know what I mean? Like there's... There's
[00:37:39] things about the holidays that are integral to the emotions and the feelings that come out of the movie. And that to me is enough to be a Christmas movie, but yeah, it shouldn't be... But those
[00:37:51] are feelings you can't invoke in June because they all went to the beach. Do you know what I mean? So... And so that's the only reason for saying it's still in there. But I'm 100% with you
[00:38:03] when people say dihard isn't. Then I'm like, well, neither is home alone because Kevin is just a little John McLean who's stuck in that house because you know, he wouldn't be alone if it wasn't for Christmas. Those guys wouldn't be coming. Just like the terrorists wouldn't have
[00:38:18] been... They weren't terrorists. They were thieves. They were excellent. Uh, or... Check the words, Mary. They're false or... They're false or... They want you to think their terrorists. Yeah. But they wouldn't have been known if it's a Christmas. Like there's
[00:38:29] so many parallels. It's not same movie, but their parallels that will have to admit the working title for Home Alone was Diolong. But they thought that was just... That's funny. So I do... I do just want to say that like I was talking to my wife about this
[00:38:43] when I told her I was going to be on your podcast tonight and she was she just looked at me and she was essentially like, you're full of it. She's like literally and she just straight up
[00:38:55] called me out and she was like, look, you know damn well. It's a Christmas movie. She was like, you're trying to be difficult and trying to be controversial. But like look, you know with
[00:39:06] the Christmas movie and I sat there and I was like, I guess I might try... Like she... I think she called me out. She called my wife. So like for that reason I did not put either die harder home alone on
[00:39:16] my list for tonight. Fairly. Did you put... Did you put Gremlin's or lethal weapon on your list? Gremlin's is on my shoutout. It was number five but there's another movie that I kind of wanted
[00:39:26] to call attention to that I'm saying those thing a lot of people have seen so I wanted to be fair for her. Yeah, we'll save those for like the honorable mentions. Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah.
[00:39:34] I just do not like... I don't know. I tried watching home alone last night and I was just like so... No, when did you stop? When did you stop? When did you stop? When did you stop? I honestly stopped as students he's sitting in the chair watching the
[00:39:50] black-hawai movie. After he gets done dancing, you know, jumping at the end of the game. You have filthy animal. The kid that gets movie. But I'm surprised that I even made it that far and the... Because like he's... There's just so bratty. They're just so bratty.
[00:40:06] I can't tolerate it. It's so... So I'm with you in some ways. Like except I still love the movie but man, those... Especially not just Kevin but the kids and the uncle. That family is miserable.
[00:40:20] That's a fan of the kids. They're really horrible. They call them a disease. I'm like oh my god. It's the worst family in the country. Not only not just because they forgot their kid.
[00:40:31] No, they're just awful. They're just bad people. Now the dad is just very milk toast and he doesn't seem like a bad guy but he doesn't also does a stand-up for his kids when his brother or his wife's brother
[00:40:42] does stuff so I can't like him. The mom, I still like how can you not love his Catherine... That's what I mean. How can you not love Catherine here? Like she's freaking amazing but
[00:40:53] yeah. Okay, but like she did ever... She was worried sick. Nobody else seemed to care. Okay, but like really though whenever Kevin calls the mom a dummy like my mom would have like
[00:41:05] snatched him to tomorrow. Like it was a bit. Yeah, I would have not been a dummy. Not abusive way. I would have if I called my mom a dummy. I wouldn't remember anything after that.
[00:41:16] Yeah, well wake up the he called his mama dummy and she left him home a while. So I think you see did punish like a social service. There's to be feed on a central. That's true.
[00:41:27] I mean, yeah, but pretty real punishment. Yeah, she was just like, who's the dummy? Enjoy the year in fest, you know. Oh, I could have had the child when I looked back on and I'm like yeah, okay. I can really enjoy watching this.
[00:41:45] I guess as a child, but now that I'm just older and I'm listening to these super bloody children. I'm just like, why am I? I don't have to watch it. They're a better Christmas
[00:41:57] they're the worst and if you can't get through that. No, I respect that. But I do appreciate his his cleverness, not winning this is cleverness. You know, like he is very strategic,
[00:42:11] very useful. Yeah, very smart. And that's why, that's why I can't understand there's no reason to make these other homolognes that they've made because McCulley, Colkan and Joe, Joe Pesci and Marv, my gosh, I'm blanking. Yeah, so I'm not what you just made. Daniel Stern, yes Daniel.
[00:42:35] Those three like make the movie. There's a reason you can watch it. The same things basically happen in a sequel and love it almost more than the original, right? And it's those three. It's
[00:42:51] nothing else about the movie. Really, it's the kid and those two, they're like perfect storm of entertainment together. And when you throw another kid and French steward and some other, you know, people, it's just no, no, no, no, not to French steward. But that's not homolog. It
[00:43:10] just doesn't work. It's not as good. You don't have that magical mixture. I think John Hughes is part of it as well. I think, you know, Christopher Columbus, because didn't John Hughes wrote the first one,
[00:43:20] didn't he? Yes. But Chris Columbus directing, you know, like stuff those kinds of things and then you get some somebody else to come in here and just kind of throw something together. Though I will say
[00:43:30] the last one that actually acknowledges the first two. Yeah. The British one, right? Yeah. Well, the kid is British. Yeah. The kid is the mom. But that's a Netflix one, is it? Right. No,
[00:43:43] it was on HBO. Oh, HBO Max. I don't remember where it was on. I will or no, it was Disney plus. What am I saying? Well, it's not a great movie. It isn't a terrible movie either. Do you know what?
[00:43:59] It's better than three and four. Yes. Buzz is in it and has a great cameo. He's in the couple it's in the same universe as Kevin's. Whereas the other ones try to reimagine Kevin's universe,
[00:44:13] right? It was like a different family. This one is literally you can forget all the other ones and call this one home on three if you want to but it's more of an offshoot because it's not Kevin's
[00:44:22] family but they're acknowledged, right? It's like it's in that same universe. And so I gave it a plus for that. That's the only reason I was willing to watch it. I was like, okay, I want to see what
[00:44:31] they do. And I didn't hate it. It's got, um, so what would you call it a regrow from the office? What would you call it a requel, a remake slash sequel or leave the mix. No, no, no, it's that they used it
[00:44:47] in the new screen movie actually they call it a requel didn't they? That's right. I think soon. I think so. My bed. Yeah. So if you I mean, it's worth it. If you have Disney plus you're not
[00:44:57] losing out anything but you know an hour and a half. Right. To watch it, it's not, again, it's not as good but it's one of those where I'm just like this whole thing could have been
[00:45:07] you know avoided if with one conversation. You know, like it's just one mistake and stupid mistake after another a miscommunication. And those things frustrate me like Matt was saying about you know, just not being able to, you know, have those cringe moments where it's like,
[00:45:26] you know, can this guy, you know, do this? There's a lot of that in this too where you're just like, oh my gosh, if someone's someone's talking to someone. So while this is happening,
[00:45:36] if they would say, hey, wait a minute, I'm just this person then everything is fine. Like it's just just for time too. I mean, even the forehead, you can avoid, you know, like, I mean, all the hospitals
[00:45:48] and everything else. But they've been, they're the regional home alone, home alone too. There were no cell phones, right? So that, it neverifies the situation even more where I feel like what is called homesuit home alone or something like that, is that what it's called?
[00:46:01] What it's home. Yeah, this one. Yeah, the new one with the British kid is at home, sweet home, home alone. I don't remember. That's a good question. Home alone is sort of
[00:46:13] too home to alone. All right, but you know, it's different times. So some of the things that worked in the first two are easily solved by just cell phone technology, sure, which they would
[00:46:29] have to work around. But, you know, so home alone is only on my list, though. So we'll move on because we talked about it for a long time. But I knew what I knew a dark conversation. So I'm sure
[00:46:38] I said it early. Before people start tuning out, I hate that so. The next one on my list, we have to watch every year, well, not every year, but it's, I wouldn't make sure that it's on my, if it was only five choices,
[00:46:56] Muppet Christmas Carol. There are a lot of versions of the Christmas Carol and screw story. In fact, there's an idea in the best one. There's a new one this year, an animated Netflix
[00:47:06] musical called Scrooge, which is another remake of that movie. I still prefer the Muppet one to any other version. Not that there are other versions that I like. This is my preferred version.
[00:47:21] This is my definitive Christmas Carol in my headcan and I go to it every time. Muppet Christmas there were two. There were two versions that I go with. The Muppet Christmas Carol, which arguably is also probably one of the more faithful versions. And then Scrooge with Bill Murray.
[00:47:39] Yes, I do like Scrooge to quite a bit. Those are the two Christmas Carol versions that that I those are my go-to's. But I totally agree with you. Muppet Christmas Carol is probably if not my favorite, my favorite version of that story. It's just, I mean, Michael
[00:47:55] Kane, come on, Michael Kane and Muppets. He's yeah. So he can't go wrong. So this month on the next and the episode of the promptly written podcast that's coming out tomorrow, we did a book club and we read a Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens because neither of us
[00:48:09] have read it before. So I've watched how many versions? I've watched too and I haven't seen them up in a while. Like I remember liking them up a one, but for me, the definitive Christmas
[00:48:21] Carol was me. So it was Mickey Mouse. That's a good one too. But I did watch this, it was a 1938 version of a Christmas Carol that was super true to the to the book and it's fantastic. It's
[00:48:35] absolutely fantastic. Wow. That's awesome. And that's out there. I think HBO Max Paramount plus one of those has that one free to stream. Okay. And just, and also, you know, related
[00:48:47] spirited with Ryan Reynolds and Wolf Arrow is also. I did not know it was now. Now I will, so that's I would say that's screwed in that aren't necessarily versions of the Christmas Carol. They're like
[00:48:59] inspired by inspired by the fact that they use the same formula, but when I'm talking so but I love and I love screws. I'm not that's not. I love screws. I'm like a lot. That's one of my
[00:49:11] favorite movies, but we don't watch it every year. It's not on my list, but I love it. But no, what I'm talking about are the original like yeah, the original Christmas Carol's based on the book,
[00:49:23] like this is the, it's cratch it. It's the, you know what I mean? It's the names. Yeah, all those people are the same and, but yeah, they tell the story in different ways. And you know, I saw growing up
[00:49:35] I saw George. He's got one and that was really great. I mean there's, there's a lot of great versions. But for me, the one that I go to in art be is the Muppets. It's just I love everything about
[00:49:48] even the songs are like memorable. Like they stick with you. Yeah, which is kind of fun. Is that Disney Plus? I believe so. It should be Disney Plus being Muppets. You know, after revisited. Do you have a favorite Christmas Carolia?
[00:50:04] Yeah, Christmas Tree. A very favorite Christmas. Which one? What? Jim Carrey. I was gonna ask the animated one, right? Yeah. It's like the by the polar express folks. I was gonna ask
[00:50:15] so not my favorite, but I was gonna ask if any of you have seen that. Have any of the vanilla leaves? You guys seen it? I have not. I meant to watch it before that we recorded, but I didn't
[00:50:25] get around to it and then I saw the polar express thing and polar express kind of frees me out. Not yeah. Well, this is, this is further along. So they've advanced their animation. Right. So it's less creepy.
[00:50:36] I said the eyes have a lot of the polar express. I think I think the eyes are less dead, but still, it's the dead eyes. And like the almost Tom Hanks, they really creep me out.
[00:50:46] For me, it's the kid in polar express with the man's voice. That's right. Yeah. So creepy too. And he's like, hey, hey, hey, kids, let's go over here. I'd like this. This is an adult
[00:51:00] pretending to be a child, right? And it's not okay. Right. This is, this is a kid within adult voice asking the kids to go to his van. And that's not right. It was, uh, yeah, that part,
[00:51:12] but the crap I'm saying. I do love the polar express though. I mean, I always feel great after watching that and I'm wrong, but that kid always annoys the crap out of me. So I'll throw my two cents
[00:51:28] in real quick. And then I'll leave you. You can defend it if you prefer because I have one thing I don't like about it. So I thought the animation was great. Jim Carrier is a great choice. Like,
[00:51:37] I would love to have seen him do like a live action version in costume. I think that he's a perfect actor for that. He's really good. So I was looking forward to it. And the story in the way it's
[00:51:47] told fantastic. However, there's a because it's animated, they throw in some really weird dumb things. Kind of like they did with polar express that are, and it was 3D. That are simply for
[00:52:02] the purpose of being 3D. Ridiculous eye candy that that is like, why is this happening in a scrooge? But you know, like in polar express they go at Santa's workshop and they're going down
[00:52:15] at the roller coaster type thing. I all had stuff, you know, that's all for the spectacle of seeing it in the big screen and stuff like that. And totally unnecessary and does not hinge the plot
[00:52:26] one whatsoever. That's the way I felt about some of the scenes in screw and the Jim Carrier's that version. We're doing it in 3D. But I thought the performance really was great. Like this.
[00:52:37] No, no. It's like it's just weird. It's stuff that's like a ride. Right? It feels like they're trying to make a ride. You make your roller coasters. And I'm like, come on, like this you just took me out
[00:52:50] of this classic story to put me on this ridiculous, you know, amusement park ride basically. It's, you know, and that stuff bothers me. But it was good. Like I thought it was a good
[00:53:02] telling of the story. And I'm wrong about that or did you like that? No, I definitely agree. I definitely agree. And I also agree about the voice in the polar express. Although,
[00:53:19] that is still on my list. Just because I, it is just one of those movies that I don't know. I just, I actually really enjoy. But as for a Christmas Carol, I just think that Jim Carrier
[00:53:28] just does such a great job. And it did freak me out. That was younger. But you know what I watched it as I got older. I really liked it. Yeah, but I also agree. It does feel more like a roller
[00:53:43] coaster ride or like something that you see. And like a movie theater, you know, like what they want to do like pop out at your face with the 3D glasses. You know? Yeah. So I'm going to throw this
[00:53:55] next one out just to get it out of the way. Um, I hard. Obviously is on my list. We've already made this before. All right. We have already exhausted that. Just really no delaying the needs
[00:54:05] at the, we did this point, right? You all know how I feel nobody else does anybody else have died hard on their list. That's the question that I do want to ask.
[00:54:13] I'm not sure if you ever hear even right, it kids. Right. If I'm flipping through and happens to be on on cable or whatever I'm going to stop and watch it. But it's not something that the family considers like required
[00:54:37] holiday season viewing. Sam, and that was my one caveat. But I still included it because it's the five days that I'm going to watch. And the only five, the only Christmas was like, and watch,
[00:54:49] you know what I mean? So the family would be one of them. Even if these are the family sessions they're enduring at this time. We're watching this. Um, so die hards on that list for me.
[00:55:01] And then, and then the final one. This is the one that I saved for last because it's my, it's our Christmas Eve. Right? This is the every year Christmas Eve. Our kids do a secret sibling
[00:55:12] kind of thing is I think I've mentioned on the show before but we have a lot of children and you know, that was it. No, we have six. But we had that was a choice that we made and early on we
[00:55:23] decided that when they were adults like we didn't want them to feel obligated to have to buy five Christmas presents for every, you know, something for every sibling. So we started a tradition
[00:55:35] early on where they each bought that they traded names. They pulled names out and they bought one present for that sibling. And it was kind of like, you know, everybody got something from somebody.
[00:55:45] And that way when they're older they don't have to feel obligated. There's no hard feelings, you know, if I, you know, they couldn't afford to, you know, to do something for everybody and
[00:55:54] and so it's not their fault that we decided to have six of them. And you know what I mean? Like that's that's unfair to burden them with that. I feel like so yeah, we introduced that. So every year we get
[00:56:07] together and do that and on Christmas Eve they opened those presents from each other and then we watch Christmas vacation. So yeah, it's it's it's every Christmas Eve we we've been watching that one
[00:56:25] it's as a after the the present opening. Yeah, that's the one that really kind of gets me in the mood for Christmas event. You know, because Christmas Eve movie is the one that gets you ready for the next day
[00:56:35] and we like, you know, we're laughing but yet there's also that there's that good spirit of Christmas that you feel even during even in the cynical stuff that's going on in this movie sometime.
[00:56:48] You can't help it still feel and want to sing the National Anthem as a Christmas Carol at the you know, right? If I had a rubber hose anyway, I think I love Christmas vacation. It is
[00:57:03] definitively the best of the vacation movies in my opinion. And yeah, it's a it's a staple. It's gotta be anybody else having on the list. Yeah, totally very much like you said that you
[00:57:16] watch elf to kind of kick off the season. We watch National Anthem's Christmas vacation on Thanksgiving like when we're done. Oh, that's what picks up. That's cool. The Christmas party starts then. Right? It does start. Thanksgiving. We just realized that this year I've seen
[00:57:33] them movie a billion times and one of the kids actually mentioned just like, well, they watched they watch the things giving day parade. You know, and I'm like holy crap, their family is staying in that house together for a month. Like I never put it together.
[00:57:49] I mean, obviously, I know, except for cousin Eddie. He's a he's staying outside. Right. That there. But I don't know. Yeah, that is insane. That's like, but it's just a finally a just a curvy this year that it's that long of a period. And I'm like, you're right,
[00:58:04] that's the Thanksgiving day parade. That is crazy to me because I don't think I noticed it either and that's one of my favorite things to quote in the movie is, oh, here they are. Here
[00:58:14] come the nuts. Like, yeah, it's the parade. It's great. Oh, man. Yeah. So yeah, I mean, that works as a Thanksgiving leading in the Christmas. I mean, I think that makes perfect. Yeah, that's perfect. I also love the fact that one of the movies that's one of my
[00:58:34] honorable mentions is meant, you know, is referred to by Clark because he refers back to white Christmas with Bing Crosby and Danny F. McKay. You know, and so I, what can you say? I think I
[00:58:50] agree. I think it's the best National Land Poons Vacation movie of all of them, even dating back to like the original. There's just something about it and everybody's so comfortable in the roles at this point, and there's just so many great lines, holy crap, are there so many,
[00:59:07] it's such a quoteable movie. And that to get off on to like far of a tangent though, I would really like to know everybody's second favorite vacation movie. The original, the first one for me. Yeah,
[00:59:17] the first one for me. So I'm going to go out on the limb. Are you going to say, you're going to see, no, I love Vegas Vegas is very good. Vegas is Vegas vacation Vegas is a nice return to
[00:59:28] form after European, which was not that great. You're being with us at all. I mean, they would find the best. Yeah, Vegas though, you're right, it is a very good one. It's not going
[00:59:37] with me. I picked the first one because it's got the best rusty of all of them and that's anything Michael Hall. I absolutely love Clark and Rusty in that movie. There's so good. Take man,
[00:59:50] you said that's like a long internet. Well, but it wasn't Vegas isn't Vegas the one where they like actually recognize that there have been different kids. Don't they mentioned that somehow
[01:00:02] refer to that where the kids did look different or are different? One of, and one of the vacation movies they actually I don't know unless that was with the kind of rebrand with um at how that was
[01:00:14] awful. You know, it was fine. It wasn't like it was fun. It wasn't the bad. I believe but I feel like they shouldn't have called it a national lampuens vacation movie. Yeah, they could have done anything
[01:00:29] with it made a different camera. Mark can ever in it though weren't they? Didn't they make cameos? They did it and they did it. And they did it. And here's what's true right?
[01:00:35] They did your work. Yeah, he was supposed to be Rusty. Here's why I think it's terrible. That's right. They literally can make Clark and Ellen unfunny. That's what I think about this like even they
[01:00:52] aren't good in that movie. It's bad. I don't like it. I thought and I saved it for an airplane right? I'll watch all the movies. I refuse to give money to in the theater when I have to travel
[01:01:04] for work and I want to get the audience of free time. Yeah, if I have all these free movies and I watch all of the terminator genesis, I watched on this, Saturn's Creed movie. Like I
[01:01:14] stuff I wasn't sure was going to be any good right? And most of the time it wasn't. And this was one of them yeah, I didn't like it but anyway that's a good that's good. The vacation is
[01:01:26] people forget about like all the different ones you know I think Vegas gets gets doesn't get enough. I just I absolutely love Vegas. It's number two. Solid number two. I feel like that's not soft. That's okay. No water. I clean. All right.
[01:01:46] Yeah, give us Jefferson's vacation. I was going to say I feel like this is a dad movie because it's also one of my dad's top five. You might be right. Yeah, it's possible to call us
[01:01:58] although like we clearly will see it's like well-sees. Yeah, it's well-sees and also you don't have to be well-sees and to be a dad, man. This is true. I'm going to I'm going to ponder that. That might be another prompt. Do you like it though, Olivia?
[01:02:20] I really haven't watched it. I'm going to very honest. I feel like I'm not that much of a know- I think it's on kind of thing, but you don't. Yeah, yeah. I feel like I would sit down and watch
[01:02:30] Grumpy Old Man before I would. That's funny. That's a pretty funny movie. Yeah. I feel like I've a late-to-grumpy Old Man. Grumpy Old Man? She loves that movie, man. She loves the
[01:02:42] Grumpy Old Man. I mean, no, it's fine. Like, talk about duos. That's a good duo. Yes, they are. I actually want to say math out. Yeah, but let me talk in national and poons Christmas vacation and crumpy
[01:02:54] I know. Yeah. I just don't know what it is about that movie that it's just like, you know what I mean? You should watch dirty right now. If you watched dirty right
[01:03:01] in the sky, those you should watch that. No. You should watch that. I haven't. I feel like I feel like it. I feel like it. I feel like it. Yeah, and there it is. What do I have to
[01:03:11] feel- I feel like I need to actually sit down and give Christmas vacation. Yeah, like what does them live even called? Yeah, you need to give the chance. You need to give the chance. Yeah.
[01:03:22] Because yeah, only my dad will just, you know, have it playing in the background. But yeah, they don't- There isn't go ahead, sorry. No, I think you were done. Now, I'm just going to say,
[01:03:33] I think you're right. I mean, it is a dad's experience. You know what I mean? The movie is from Clark's experience, right? Yeah. Clark is and not, but while it's, he is deaf, it's definitely a
[01:03:44] dad experience. He also represents anyone who has a crazy family at Christmas. So he can be that, but then he also can be, you know, or you can relate to Ellen, or you can read to Rusty or
[01:03:58] Andre Zunetti. Yeah. She was happy well hopefully not. But you can relate to being a kid who had to give up his, his or her, you know, bedroom for, for their grandparents and the kids that are family or whatever.
[01:04:11] So yeah, I think there's a lot of things that the whole family can relate with. But I feel like, yeah, it's definitely Clark's experience. Like you're, you're really kind of feeling for him the whole
[01:04:23] time. He's waiting for his bonus. He's trying to provide a great Christmas first. Yeah. I'm like, I think he's an artist. Yeah. It's definitely like that dad, you know, like who just wants
[01:04:33] to everything to be the best first family. Yeah. It fails miserably. So he's all of us. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that's why I love it so much. But that's our Christmas Eve movie. It sounded like
[01:04:45] the two of you did have that. So that got three points, but the point's no matter. That's all five of mine. So let's just go around. Let's go over to Matt. What's a movie I didn't
[01:04:57] mention that's on your list? So let's see. There's a couple. So I'm just going to go with this one it was going to end up out there eventually. It plays all day on Christmas day. That would be my favorite
[01:05:07] Christmas movie of all time. It's a Christmas story. It does make it the background. Are you a Christmas? And I do make it a point to sit down and watch it. It's entirely at least once. Just because
[01:05:20] that's not all. You probably see the whole Christmas. What is she doing? So, so let's just just want to point out that I want to point out that the Leo's reaction to a Christmas story is very
[01:05:31] similar to a couple people in this house. My household's reaction to a Christmas story. Actually, don't understand. I think so. We had this discussion on a previous episode of this podcast on a true one. We're going to call this a dad movie too. I'm 100% agree with this because
[01:05:52] this is all that plays in my household for the time that we wake up. Christmas Eve until we all go to sleep. Christmas Day. Do you have something against like refining the joy behind Christmas?
[01:06:09] Small child convinced. Look, Elyo's upset that she never got her red rider BB gun. Yeah, they saw a ballpark man. You go get one. No, I have always had a really great Christmas. I got an
[01:06:25] air hockey table one year for Christmas. The game, boy, I've had really great Christmas. It's just this specific movie because my dad watches it all. Oh, no, you're around. But, you know,
[01:06:38] okay, it was bad. This is a thing. It wouldn't be so terrible if it was just playing on the TV, right? But they intentionally went out, bought the DVD, so that way. So what they're playing it in
[01:06:50] the microwave and the oven on the kitchen sink. It's playing everywhere throughout the house, everywhere. You go down the basement, it's playing. Elyo wakes up and hears the movie shows off. Yeah, all of these she didn't say. But I think they should be safe.
[01:07:07] Recognize the beauty of this movie. I just want to throw it out in the window. And here's what I think I mentioned that I think it might be a generational thing. And here's, and this is
[01:07:20] where we run the risk being nostalgic of having to be careful how we pass that nostalgia on to our children because like with Marvel, my kids jumped right in and they love it with Star Wars,
[01:07:33] my kids jump right in and they loved it. And not only kids grasp onto this movie, like they don't they don't hate it. That's just like, you know, when I'm ever, whereas for me, like every Christmas
[01:07:46] as a kid, I didn't have Christmas vacation yet. I didn't have, you know, some of these other movies yet that was kind of the one. That was the Christmas movie as a kid. So I have a lot
[01:08:00] bigger and that's, and I think Elyo is like my kids heard dad made her watch it every year. And she's like, okay, it's okay. But dad, I'm done. Like I've seen this enough kind of thing. And then they put it on
[01:08:10] TNT 24 hours a day. And so yeah, something else. Yeah, I can understand why the next generation is probably going to have a little bit of a grudge against this movie because of how much we have
[01:08:29] beat it into people by putting it on all day long. You know, I mean, like, I think the younger generation is going to be kind of like, you know what I mean? I'll pass, you know what I mean?
[01:08:38] Because there's also some things movies that are Christmas related that they're falling in love with and that will be very nostalgia. I think it's geographical too because like my wife grew up born and raised Floridian, far too between because I thought everybody moved to Florida.
[01:08:54] But there are actually people that live in our born there in razor. I didn't know that. And yeah, she understands and finds parts of a Christmas story funny. But she doesn't have the love nearly the love of it that I do. And I can't help but wonder if
[01:09:16] part of that is because you know, I grew up in North East Ohio. And a Christmas story being a movie that's supposed to be Cleveland and seeing all the things that I saw and walk by as a child
[01:09:29] growing up and everything else adds that attachment to it. And never mind the fact that, you know, the house is still down there in Ohio City that you can actually go visit take pictures.
[01:09:43] You could sell it and it's for sale. And you can actually, you know, at one point, you could actually rent a room or rent a house. You still can. You still can. Yeah, they're trying to sell it
[01:09:54] and keep it a museum and a B&B or whatever it was, I'm right here. But yeah, that's so you're right except I grew up in West Virginia, but you haven't watched Virginia. So I don't know.
[01:10:04] And I saw, but I still it was something I watched every Christmas. It didn't matter. Right? Like it's like the Kevin said in home alone too, like you can't have Christmas with palm trees.
[01:10:14] Yeah, like it's not the same. It's not the same. It's not the same. Absolutely. No offense anyone in a tropical climb. Well, and I know Matt, I know Matt has watched it, but you know,
[01:10:24] they made the sequel. Oh my god. Right. A Christmas story Christmas. They've brought Ralphie back. They brought his friends back. I love that they brought some of the original cast back. And did you see
[01:10:36] it already? I haven't watched it yet. No. So I want everything that's waiting for the family, the family wants to see it. Yes. I will, Matt's oil anything. It's incredible. Like I
[01:10:48] walked, I went into that with no expectations. I was like, please don't ruin this for me. Please don't ruin this for me. It is absolutely a hundred percent perfect. Like I spalled during like
[01:11:03] it was so good. Every bit of nostalgia you want is there. Every bit of the heart of the first movie is there. It is such a great tribute to just that the tradition of that movie. It's perfect. It's
[01:11:16] like you should as soon as we're done, you should go watch it with your pants. Well, we were almost watched it yesterday. We had everybody was over yesterday and we were because we were thinking we're going to watch the first movie of the season. And
[01:11:34] actually my son-in-law was like, I gave them choices over which we were going to watch spirited or that. We're going to watch a new one as the kickoff this year. Something new we haven't
[01:11:43] seen. And he picked that one and I was so excited. And then they ended up going home because we didn't end up watching. So we watched the Guardians of Galaxy and you're just still funny, but
[01:11:52] which is great. Yeah. I want to see it really badly, but it is something that I'm going to have to wait for them to come back over. It's so good. Although I will say that it's probably
[01:12:02] at least I won't be able to watch it as often as I watch the first one because it's really emotional. More emotional. Yeah, so it's so good. I can't really don't want to say anything.
[01:12:18] Yeah, sure. No, that's perfect. It's perfect. Well, good. I'm glad I'm glad to hear that because they waited specifically. Peter Billingsley said he wasn't going to do it unless he felt very strongly that it was for lack of a better word or worthy story to continue
[01:12:38] from the first movie. So that's why it took so long. And I'm glad to hear that they finally did find, they find that they found something that worked. Yeah, awesome. And I have it on my list
[01:12:50] to not tell them that the original, but of course, I haven't. I didn't, sorry, I didn't have it on my list because it's just a staple Christmas day. It's just it's on at some point we watch it.
[01:13:02] So it is at one of those where we kind of make a point to sit down in the five days. That's the only reason I didn't because it'll just kind of happen on its own on Christmas. It's going to
[01:13:12] hate, it's inevitable. Yeah, like Thanos. So you told us that on your list or no? Yeah, so it was on my list. Because we know it wasn't on the list. No, show what it's done.
[01:13:26] I'm not a hater of the movie. I just like, it just, I don't know. Like, they're going to send me like hate mail like out of the ear. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, I hope that's what you're on.
[01:13:37] I'll save that for you to see from a you haven't seen like Beverly Hills cop or something like that. I haven't seen it. I have it seen it. I can't wait.
[01:13:50] Like every, okay, so I have to be more than we're on the list in this. Wait, quick real quick, have your kids seen Beverly Hills cop? Yes, they have. Okay. I'm just, I don't think you appreciate it as
[01:14:01] much as mine. Haven't. So my kids are just like, oh yeah, I didn't make a watch out. One knows the truth that they're making a sequel. They're actually making an eye hopes. I've heard
[01:14:10] that is happening and it's judge Ryan hold, like it's like the real thing. It's like it's a real thing with with any Murphy and that's what I'm hearing. Yeah, that's the way to do it. Yeah.
[01:14:19] Go ahead. What were the other two you're going to say? I got two more one is the Santa Claus. Okay, that's the first one. That's the first one. That's on my list. It's just nice. I don't know.
[01:14:30] It's always been a staple ever since it first came out. I don't know, just the first one or the series would you say? Okay, so my favorite is the first one. I really like the second one and
[01:14:41] partially because I'm a big fan of Mrs. Claus but um, and general or in that film. I mean, I appreciate her as an actress. And then the, but the third one I don't like, I really wanted to
[01:14:59] like the third one but um, it's like too much for me. So that one's on Ali is last and you're the third one? You tell? No, no, no Santa Claus. You tell if you have it on your list?
[01:15:12] It's not on my five but it is on my list of movies that as a non-rule mentioned. Yeah, like we don't, you don't watch it a lot here. We have it. But the kids never bring it up.
[01:15:24] Yeah, I mean like you know if it's on and we don't mind the movie but it's not one of the ones that we're like okay time to watch this. You know what I mean? Well it's funny. I like the first one.
[01:15:34] And we were talking about the other day there's a lot of parallels I think between that one and elf actually just about like kind of like trying to re-find the spirit of Christmas. Like there's the
[01:15:44] you know his meter goes in the Santa Claus and um, you know, he has to get that thing to fly again. Same thing happens in elf the engine gets a lot I mean there's just there's so many parallels and
[01:15:57] yeah, it's like a constant theme with Christmas movies where you're trying you need to like rediscover that magic of Christmas kind of that Christmas spirit if you will. Yeah well they just recently made a sequel right?
[01:16:08] Well it's a TV show series. Oh it's a series. It's a series. Oh no watch the first two episodes and it's kind of like how you feel about the halo series.
[01:16:21] Okay I got you. I'm not catching it yet. I'm not quite sold. I'll probably see it through but it's it was kind of rough. Yeah. Interesting. Okay so Santa Claus and and then so this one I guarantee
[01:16:35] nobody's gonna have on their list. It's an oldie. It is not it's a wonderful life because we that is not a Christmas movie. I could go off on a tangent right now. You could tell me it's a wonderful
[01:16:45] life as a Christmas movie and you're full of it. You're 100% full of it. It takes place at Christmas it should be called this a terrible life life sucks but your family can pull you off of the bridge in
[01:16:54] the end if you want them to because it's a depressing horrible life. Dude that's a really long title I don't like it. Yeah but I'd be guessing you would know why they went with it's a wonderful
[01:17:04] life now. I don't because it's terrible. It's so depressing. Well nobody would see the one you just described. Wow that was the title. They couldn't even fit that title on the marquee man.
[01:17:16] Just I mean it's just be like it's terrible. Like I mean that's just like so I'm good in it but this is an old movie. It's it's um it's called Remember The Night. It was released in 1940
[01:17:30] it starred Barbara Stanwick in Fred McMurray who said McMurray. Yes so they also starred in my favorite film noir called Double In Demity and they're a great pair. They feed off each other really well
[01:17:44] I'll remember the 90's. It's it's a remember the night it's just a great movie just like I'll give you a real quick synopsis. She's a shoplifter. He's a prosecuting attorney and he's supposed to
[01:17:56] be prosecuting her so right so they're like in court and it's right around Christmas and he feels bad for that she's gonna have to spend jail and Christmas so as the prosecutor he bails
[01:18:06] her out but then he has to make sure that she doesn't you know fly because she's got to be back in court after Christmas he ends up taking her home to his family and they end up like falling in love.
[01:18:17] It's it's just a really like feel good. Wait oh. It's his wife part of that family that he's taken her home. He did he's not buried okay single dude yeah yeah he's like he's taking the home
[01:18:26] to the family if they fall in love in the wife is like what he tells us he takes her home to his mom essentially okay gotcha so he's living with his mom no they're he's going to his mom's
[01:18:37] oh I feel like I did a very bad job so he's just it's just them. So he's like he's prosting a bachelor and attorney doing well she's a shoplifter she's pretty you know he
[01:18:52] feels bad for that she's gonna have to spend the holidays in jail so he bails her out but he has to make sure she doesn't skip town so he he's brought home so he's been out and he
[01:19:01] prosecuted her to the fullest is the extent of the law this was 1940 there was nothing that's not what it's gonna be. That sounds fun I want to check that out. It is man
[01:19:13] I'm not sure if it's streaming somewhere I have it on YouTube TV like I like they play it on like AMC all the time okay I'm sure it sounds about right it's really good. Yes and you
[01:19:26] I really wanted to just throw out there because I was hoping to like give somebody like oh that might be cool because I think a lot of people see like a black and white movie and they're like oh
[01:19:34] that can't be good it's black and white and it's like you know it all started somewhere and that's right there's a lot of really good movies. That's one has a lot of the heart
[01:19:42] that a lot of these movies that we're talking about have so nice. So that's it for me. Yeah that's not on my list. All right so you tell there were some crossovers though
[01:19:54] already so you probably have a cup of laugh I I there only really like a couple of on-roll mentions that are ones that like I said well no what did we already mention all of your
[01:20:06] five oh no okay so of the five the only one that hasn't been mentioned is emodotters jugg band Christmas. Yes it's wild that's that's it. Emodotters jugg band Christmas it's a jim
[01:20:17] jim jim jim jim jim henson production so it's her puppetry oh you got to watch the the blooper blooper real with when they're rolling the drum out of the yeah other the shop yeah
[01:20:30] you got to look that up on YouTube that's the funniest like ten minutes of your life you'll ever have is this a more let's look at I imagine I'm assuming it's on Disney plus because it's a jim
[01:20:41] henson production okay but it's something that I grew up with as a child and actually care and my wife also prime it's on prime oh nice okay and peacock but it's just you know there's
[01:20:55] just something about it that's really wholesome and there's a lot of hard to it and the puppetry is just so great and yes you don't see that kind of thing in this day and age of you know CGI and everything
[01:21:08] else are they all original puppets for this movie or their no original characters so it's not a muppet production it's a jim henson production god it's okay it's cute it's super cute
[01:21:19] check it out for sure it is watch the YouTube trailer but the fact the fact that there are bloopers and and this is probably they stay in character these guys when even when their puppeteers
[01:21:29] they're staying in character when the whole thing just happened they're still playing the characters and I'm positive that's where pixar got the idea for for their bloopers from their movies because uh because of these are actual improv by the music yeah exactly these are these aren't
[01:21:44] scripted these are no actual it's so funny oh my gosh I was laughing so hard when I first saw that video it's a lot of fun so before we go to some honorable mentions okay so which ones crossed over with
[01:21:57] you alias so Santa Claus was on your list um elf was on your list right yeah the polo express uh okay and then my last one was the grinch okay which one yeah jim jim jim jim
[01:22:16] yeah jim carry grinch and there is like a theme that's like my mom she is forever said literally from years she is at the she is the grinch so my nephew I don't know if you can see this
[01:22:28] picture but my nephew took this picture with the grinch right how cute oh wait oh that's a door right okay and then my mom she said how awesome I knew I'd be able to
[01:22:44] get kind and take a picture with me that's okay she has forever she calls herself the grinch and that is what plays a new year's eve uh for Oliver me she would misstick it in
[01:23:00] yeah I watched that cartoon version the text and the right what she read check notes yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah we watched you read yeah we watched you I used to watch that every
[01:23:12] Christmas too it was like a Christmas story like I had to talk to a long with all the rank and bass stop motion ones you know yeah root all of them although I've fallen away from those
[01:23:22] they don't have the nostalgia for me that they use it don't quite hold up anymore for some reason yeah but the original um so when the Jim Carrick one came out I was a little bit like what
[01:23:35] why do we really in the back story yeah um but I did I can't I can't lie I mean I enjoyed it I had a lot of performance is so good yeah I hate there's love that movie yeah it's fantastic
[01:23:49] now I have any of you seen the animated one with been in the Comberbatch the new one that just came out no like last year before yeah yeah absolutely what do you think is it is the Jim
[01:24:02] Kerry okay it's yeah love it so is it is that the new animated Grinch more of a Jim Kerry Grinch or more of the classic Grinch is it a different story or is it the same story just
[01:24:15] anime I don't I don't think there's no it's not no it's not the it is always the Christmas but it's a different telling of it yeah I believe it's just what did you say around
[01:24:27] rendition or whatever you go yeah oh no it's so I think it's like a rendition you telling okay remetters the boot yeah I've not seen that one dude but I am I am interested in stay it because I like I'm Benadette Comberbatch I think he's a good
[01:24:43] choice for the voice Benadton Benadton Comberbahn is uh it's definitely a good choice for the voice for that one is currently streaming on fubo fubo effects now hey language and and direct TV you can watch that's where you can stream that the new
[01:25:02] Grinch or renting it was on Netflix that's where it was yeah not anymore yeah it's not there now yeah yeah let's on Netflix all right so that's okay so that's everybody's five we have
[01:25:19] everybody got their five out right we all agreed with those so um well we'll start down in Utah's corner and go back around again um what are some honorable mentions okay I only have a couple of
[01:25:31] honorable mentions one of them well I'll mention this one just because I love uh everyone knows have yourself a merry little Christmas but that song was originally written for meet me in St. Louis with Judy Garland and that's a that's a cute little old musical Christmas thing but
[01:25:51] Judy Garland had a problem with the original lyrics and this is why because the original lyric went have yourself a merry little Christmas it may be your last next year we may all be living in the past
[01:26:06] and Judy Garland's with A we need to change those lyrics sir because I'm not singing that kind of stuff allow it is wow that's depressing right next year and anytime you say maybe your last
[01:26:19] that doesn't make it happy tingle bells tingle bells you might die today I mean what I'm like gonna right that's also Christmas tree fall on me now oh my gosh what a but um
[01:26:34] I wonder if I like that could be for an interesting episode if there are other Christmas carols that started out really dark I think that's a really deep rabbit hole and I bet it's very interesting yeah but you know other ones we mentioned screws before white Christmas being
[01:26:54] cries be Danny F.K. I am still haven't seen you should you should watch it actually I'm not seen it it's actually entertaining a couple times but it's good it's a good one yeah
[01:27:08] easy it's really it's definitely worth a watch and then the other one that that I'm not sure might anyone remember is the rough with Dennis Larry because that's a Christmas movie he that's
[01:27:22] a thief that you know so yes that's my honorable mention and that is the one hilarious my wife and I watched that for years on the night of on Christmas Eve night when the kids were in bed and
[01:27:36] we're wrapping gifts that was our go to movie almost every Christmas for many many years haven't seen it in a while but yes Kevin Spacey is in it um if you want to it's hilarious
[01:27:49] it's such a great movie I mean there's a lot of found language but it's not for the kids not kids Christmas movie no it's it's a rated R but oh gosh Dennis Lerious flipping hilarious and
[01:27:59] it it's just yeah that's a great person something Dennis Lerious I think was at the peak of this power when that movie came out because it was yeah it's really and it's just one that again
[01:28:10] not the whole family it's not something that the whole family insists on seeing for the holidays but it's something that like yeah I'm gonna watch it because that's it's just so funny
[01:28:21] so there you go I'll explain strange and I'll be blue bottom of the house but that's a thanksgiving movie than more than Christmas movie yeah yeah that's funny yeah so that was gonna be my one
[01:28:34] old stuff yeah honorable mention that was definitely on the list oh I got one more so as since we're talking about old classics then I will throw Christmas and Connecticut out there we finally want
[01:28:45] to go we finally watch that last year the year before and it's very fun it's there's it's a woman who writes for a magazine and she's supposed to be this great cook and she writes these great articles
[01:28:59] about like home making and home life and all this stuff that are very people love but she doesn't know how to do any cooking of her own like she doesn't you know what I mean like she's not yet but
[01:29:10] some famous person invites her to to his house for or something like that yeah she's supposed to cook Christmas dinner like and it's just it's a it's a mess she's got a step it's a friend like it's just
[01:29:22] it's one of those funny you know stuff coming in the back of all they're going to front door lots of hijinks but it's also very romantic very cute little romance going on because that's that's what all
[01:29:32] those were about yeah I ended up like it had very much so I'll throw that one out that's a good idea what any honorable mentions is there anything is there one more that you maybe was not your list but
[01:29:43] you would have put it on there if if I'd said six instead of five. Oh no I mean in my whole and with my parents uh this thing about the thing the ones that like we watch with my nephews
[01:29:58] clouds that was one that we yes thank you Alia animating that right yeah it's animated one it's really good that's a good it was Netflix about four years ago or whatever that was two
[01:30:09] de-animation too it's a nominal artwork the art is phenomenal and it's a great story you're right it is that should have been mine well mentioned as well thank you for bringing that up Alia because
[01:30:20] not enough people know about that movie and it's really good it's really really good movie and I love the storyline of it and you know just like this clotsie post-man that just is like doesn't really
[01:30:33] feel like he has a purpose or whatever but yeah and he does he has a making a whole difference in these kids' lives stuff yeah it is cute it is really really good movie and also the animation
[01:30:45] this great as well I say that one and then um I don't know I don't know I feel like if we're going old school old school yeah so 97 so probably not even that part I don't know I feel like like
[01:31:07] I think of some of the words that I watched it's that I would watch much my mom like serendipity or something at a time I think of it yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah I know that
[01:31:28] oh not let's see Kate Kate back in the video oh no Kate it's Kate back in sale okay is it John Key's that's how sexy well because that was what so it's a Leo it's a Leo old
[01:31:45] school so that's probably what 2000 early 2000s so John Key's like you know kind of trying to hit that romantic it's a thousand one old school love it it's my favorite it's born 94 I don't know what you will be oh god that is over me
[01:32:09] I said it's better than old but I don't know what you are and I said air quotes 94 that's great alright Matt alright so I'm gonna pull my yeah I got a couple more and I'll just
[01:32:25] get a rabbit through them quick because I almost have as many as you asked me to get in the first place so so just I think we mentioned this already but grandma's I always tried to watch it at least once a year
[01:32:36] good one I can't watch that anytime a year yeah but and I don't know that we've ever done it like as a Christmas movie though but that's I mean it's definitely I'm not saying it isn't I'm
[01:32:46] but like that's but it is we just watched it when we felt like watching grandma sure so that's so that's a good choice yeah I like that so something that's been getting a lot of play the
[01:32:54] past couple years in my house is four Christmas is I've not seen it Vince Vaughn and yeah Reese with her spoon yeah I know I know of it I have not seen oh it is so good John Favre's in it
[01:33:06] like so you get a little bit of that Vince Vaughn John Favre is in the movie with Vince Vaughn and well I mean he's like a cameo in this one okay like he's like a bit hard so it's really
[01:33:16] but like when they're together you might as well be watching swingers it's so it's fun I mean oh it's not okay you feel back full yes that's super good I highly you mentioned swingers now
[01:33:27] I wouldn't have to watch for Christmas because swingers is like top notch one of my daughter's favorites is Christmas with the cranks I couldn't put two timelm movies on my list so but
[01:33:38] so Christmas with the cranks is pretty good so I'm shouting that out for my daughter okay and then this one you're not gonna expect for me but this is my last one it's it's a hallmark movie already I don't it's already surprised it's called the Christmas train
[01:33:54] and what's it called the Christmas train it's a hallmark movie is it is it a did you knock off of polar express? no it is not and I'm telling you like it's German moroni oh love that man he is Danny Glover
[01:34:11] Joe and you stack like this is like top wallmark here it is so good I'm not even giving you any plot because it's perfect like it is so good like I don't want to like I don't like I don't want to
[01:34:29] like them at all yeah I love this movie you like I bought it on iTunes you spent money to I spent my own money to own the hallmark movie the Christmas train it is that good
[01:34:42] wow when did it come out it came out in 2017 okay so fairly recent so not old school no so good like so good okay all right remember you're an Ian Joan Cusack just I just want you to trust
[01:35:02] me and watch it and then you could tell me if I'm wrong okay interesting because I train the Christmas train it's a love train I feel like I have to watch it just for their
[01:35:12] not I mean he's great plays a writer so it's part like it's it's so good it may be want to go on a crossroad trip on a train is what okay you want to do wow
[01:35:25] don't tell me let me guess don't he plays a cynical writer and by the time at the beginning of the train right but like the end okay he has no legs here I'm gonna go what
[01:35:45] what how what how do you know who's this he loses his legs on a cross country train trip yeah and thus this govr is he and thus this govr is the spirit of Christmas no it
[01:36:01] is here's the thing whatever you guess I was thinking of that writing what is that writer would be very basically trapped in that crazy woman oh she loves misery yeah
[01:36:15] this is nothing like misery I promise you what's an E a writer oh my he was he was you're right damn so crazy I don't even like the Christmas train you'll lose your legs so don't hop on over to watch this movie get a lift
[01:36:44] oh that is so bad as long as I'm sorry as long as we're mentioning the hallmark movies though have you guys ever played hallmark bingo I can't like what is okay so like I'm sorry yeah what is hallmark is go okay so you can see leaves the legs
[01:37:09] in like a luggage accident well I mean it's a train I'm thinking it gets run over that's why I know this is not a cool thing everybody has all their limbs that's that's on hallmark bingo
[01:37:22] you know I was trying to you know early and we're talking about like Bruce is these he was for Christmas or legs yeah like halfway through he starts routing these times
[01:37:42] like loose tiny hands you know to talk about and it's like pop out he's like tries to walk it's not from a movie where he has like a little baby legs it's so disturbing look wait it's deadpool deadpool oh my
[01:37:59] oh my stuff right well Christmas train is also nothing like deadpool sorry you just I just turned this really probably wholesome great movie this is a very it's it's a I listen it takes a lot for me to come out onto the internet live
[01:38:17] and so you like a phrase of a hall you'll be so and that's that was not that was not on my hallmark bingo card so Matt let me that's so you don't want to like hallmark movies
[01:38:28] but are the people and your family who kind of do my mom okay my mom so what like here's what I'm recommending I'm gonna find them on the internet you can search basically Google hallmark
[01:38:39] bingo and you'll get bingo cards and there are things that happen in like every hallmark movie and they're you know mixed around on bingo cards and you play with your family while you
[01:38:51] watch the movie and it's like you know a blonde woman you know or something like you know or we'll be going back to hometown check you know or you know oh my goodness kiss under missile
[01:39:03] toe or something you know I mean there are things and it's like oh my gosh life's on the train check my wife and daughters started doing that a few years ago and it's it makes
[01:39:15] if you don't enjoy the hallmark movies at least that makes it like that's a reason you're like okay I'm trying to get bingo I don't really care what's going on this movie but I'm going to win
[01:39:24] turn it into a game probably yeah I mean that's up to you guys I don't like if something there I don't know the right that there are official rules for how my bingo mad if nobody needs a
[01:39:37] really do it yourself go like a small southern town where right somebody's going back to the hometown out to check it shot yeah that probably exists as well person runs into like the world high school
[01:39:48] boyfriend from small town right so homework bingo you know I check that out that's pretty homework actually sells bingo cards they've embraced me do they are you serious that's smart that's super smart that's holy heaven 99 for what a set of four sale let me see you get
[01:40:10] up to $1.00 a hundred and two total bingo cards in six different designs for 12 bucks oh wow that's a 120% off right now wow are they just like one use only it looks like a lot
[01:40:28] yeah but it's like wholesome so it's like you know if there's a candle or snow boots or glitter oh yeah there's some funnier ones yeah you gotta use his limbs got you yeah
[01:40:42] Zack Boris want to be B12 lost the leg got it got it bingo no no things is it says legs plural not just one not just come on now you've got to count the one leg no no no one leg not legs it's not one legs
[01:40:59] funny oh gosh I don't know that's how more more family disputes have come out of the homework bingo and that's and uh it's gonna be it's gonna be more infamous than monopoly
[01:41:12] yeah but I highly recommend one of the counts all right the Christmas train just to kind of piggyback on that um as part of the Christmas movie rabbit hole I actually found a list of like new Christmas movies
[01:41:27] with and you know what people are getting really creative with the titles of some of these movies it's um it's like I'm very binge merry binge miss is a good one um we wish you a married Christmas that's
[01:41:43] another good one interesting I like one of my favorites is a Christmas Karen I like that one that's a good one you go wonder I'm gonna what the plot of that movie is uh that one sounds like it would make
[01:41:56] she loses a leg and then asks to see the managers what that's right I could see a Christmas Karen being a screwdriver right she's a screwdriver and you've got a typical good gore make her
[01:42:11] recognize that she is a bee and that this is not great and it's like the ghost ghost of Christmas manager past ghost of yeah a barista present in ghost of fantastic I think I'm already in the right angle hallmark movie I think I got an idea
[01:42:30] I feel like she should yeah just do that just and as a cute little inside joke make sure one of the characters loses their legs just yeah there should be at least one double amputee in there you know
[01:42:43] I uh before we sign off because we're gonna uh I do want to throw out that there are there are quite a few new Christmas movies to check out spirited we mentioned already uh Christmas Carol Christmas I don't know Christmas story Christmas I mentioned there's a new
[01:43:05] screwge on Netflix that's a musical there's quite a few actually new Christmas movies you got the Guardians of the Galaxy trying that got a little special there yeah so yeah every year I feel like
[01:43:17] and not just the hallmark movies they put out like a hundred of those a year just right but um but I feel like people are really trying to find 8 bit Christmas came out on HDO last year I think it was
[01:43:30] you're before good yeah that was fantastic it was a great it was a great mix of a Christmas and like you know it had a lot of those kind of elements of the nostalgia
[01:43:42] but instead of a BB gunny is going for the you know for an Nintendo yeah I loved it I thought it was really great no it was well done I we we enjoyed it so yeah it's neat to see some new
[01:43:54] Christmas movies because I feel like there was a there was not a lot for a while you know to mean like there's a whole bunch in the 80s that kind of everybody liked then there I feel like in the 90s
[01:44:05] a lot of them were more adult related 90s and thousands Christmas movies there was a few like you got the Grinch in those that popped up here and there but you got rom-comers where they like a
[01:44:15] yeah I think it like actually and for Christmas is like you mentioned things like that oh I just thought of another one Christmas will decranx that's another Tim Allen one that's actually
[01:44:25] pretty funny to watch yeah meant for a snack for oh you did how did I miss that I missed that sorry no it's fine it may be the first time I've listened to you the entire episode that movie
[01:44:37] kind of made me try one what did you get you Ham but they kind of grossed me out so I still haven't done it don't know what it is it means fam no it was like one of those big can't Ham it was one
[01:44:47] of the thing that the daughter really liked and she had to go find it oh that's oh yeah no like we bought a little one and you open it and it's got that like spam kind of grease that's just
[01:44:59] like sitting there yeah it's really yeah my dad loves spam and it can and it's still like don't knock spam spam no I will knock no no no no I will 100% any like so little weaners that
[01:45:12] come in the can and he's like okay family shabby up yeah so I'm seeing the sausages and not tiny one what happened with little people get on the Christmas train right first right it's either it's under the legs it's either the legs or the weaners suddenly Christmas train
[01:45:32] somebody's losing something on the Christmas train watch out it's gonna end up can in some time of novelty me for your family doing the way yeah on the men on the men you on the dining car the Christmas train legs and weaners Christmas I'm a little weaners
[01:45:54] all right no no the sausages don't really and that's the thing if you say that it's much less suggestions a little Christmas you think you just ruined those for me that's fantastic I don't understand they don't like sausages at all
[01:46:25] that's tiny weaners you can't really drop that was not on my home art bingo card no if anybody's using the homework if that was on anybody's card they just what's that legs more than our Christmas episode when you tiny weaners back for sure it is a world-gunky Christmas
