Hot on the heels of confirmation that the long speculated and previously only rumored “Snyder Cut” of Warner Brothers/DC’s Justice Leage film actually exists and will be be getting a $20+ million budget to complete Snyder’s vision for the film, more and more directors are coming to the forefront with claims of their own self-named cuts of their films that only met with mediocre success. The most recent director to mention he has a potentially better version of his film, is Paul Feig, who directed the female-led cast of the reboot of Ghostbusters, which was met with negative reception from trolls unhappy with women cast in the roles, but also criticized for simply not being as good as the original.
Insiders tell us that the alleged “Feig cut” is actually just the original film, with the faces of the new cast including Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy and Kate McKinnon deep-faked onto the bodies of Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis. Our sources say producers realized that fans really loved the original and are generally triggered by anything too new, while others were really clamoring for an all-female led cast… the deep-fake mashup was the compromise they believed would make everyone happy.
Feig also says he has a cut of the new Ghostbusters film that is 3.5 hours long. Leaving those who were dissatisfied with his first effort… and the extended edition after… wondering why they would want an extra hour and a half of it.
